"Having been here some years ago and enjoyed our stay, I booked the venue again. It now has new owners who have clearly invested time, money and a great deal of thought into refurbishing the establishment and putting their individual mark on it. From start to finish we had a superb experience. The Strand room we stayed in was extremely comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was something of a high light, served in the newly created restaurant room, the organisation was meticulous. Although fully booked, the 10 tables were all served with great efficiency whilst still making you feel individually valued. It was also really nice to be served breakfast rather than having to use a buffet system. Great selection of items which set us up for the day ahead. I would not hesitate to return."

"The radiator in our room was blaring out heat and we couldn’t seem to turn it off. The manager came in and fiddled with it and said she would be back later to see if it had gone off. When we came back later that evening it was still boiling hot and so had to have the window wide open and the curtains open all night so that it was bearable. When we reported it again in the morning the manager didn’t seem interested. The base of the bed was dirty and the mattress so soft we couldn’t move without disturbing each other. The sheets and duvet cover hadn’t been ironed and were so creased it was not a pleasure to get into. Two of the pillows were like lumps of concrete. Not a good nights sleep. The sink in the bathroom was badly stained and the wall by the bin had old tea and coffee stains. The only saving grace was the location and the breakfast was ok. We will not be returning especially for the premium price they are charging."
