"Very disappointing experience at Modica Boutique Hotel. Our stay from 03.06.2026 to 09.06.2026 was affected by several serious issues. In our first room, we experienced problems with the electricity and air conditioning for approximately three days. Despite reporting the issue, it was not resolved immediately. We were then moved to another room. On our last evening, we discovered significant moisture damage and mold beneath the window. Unfortunately, we only found it at the end of our stay. Photos were taken and documented. What makes this even more concerning is that my partner is pregnant. We repeatedly informed the hotel about this and made it clear that a clean and suitable room was very important to us. For this reason, it is extremely difficult to understand how we ended up in a room with visible mold and moisture damage. Throughout our stay, we remained polite and tried to resolve every issue calmly and respectfully. We did not make a scene, we did not argue, and we simply expected the hotel to address the problems appropriately. Unfortunately, that never happened. At check-out, no meaningful solution, apology or compensation was offered. Even more disappointing, I contacted the hotel manager directly after our stay, provided photos and gave him several days to respond. To this day, I have received absolutely no reply. The lack of communication and customer service after such serious issues is unacceptable. When guests report repeated power and air-conditioning failures and later discover mold in their room, the very least they should expect is a response from management. We tried to handle everything professionally and without conflict. The fact that we were left with these problems, received no meaningful support, and were ultimately ignored afterwards is simply unacceptable. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel."

"Nicely renovated house converted into a hotel. The room was OK, a little bit small but well furbished. Being in the old part of Ragusa, access to the Cathedral and all the little streets and alleys is within walking distance. Car access (and luggage drop out...) is an issue. So better have a small car and pack lightly. Car has to be parked nearby but the hotel offers a butler service within specific hours. Overall OK"

"The hotel claims to be 5 star - it is not. Looking at their website they look as though they have some nice rooms but they also have some awful ones. We booked from Loveholidays website. The room we picked showed a beautiful large light room with bifold doors with a patio outside with a dining table (a picture of the room we booked is attached). Upon our return from holiday and complaining to Loveholidays the following day the pictures on their website of this room suddenly disappeared. Unfortunately the room provided to us (room15) was a tiny, dark airless DUMP - the window was more of a small hatch, you had to have the electric light on during the day . Upon complaining we were told that the booking was for a Superior Room with garden view and that was what we had been given. In the bedroom there was no wardrobe or chest of drawers (there was no space for them). There was no power point to charge your mobile phone- although there was one by the bathroom basin if you wished to chance being electrocuted. The garden view was a grubby courtyard complete with two open manholes . They turn the lights out at night. Upon being shown to our room for the first time in the early hours I nearly fell into one of these holes - about 40cm square and about 70 cm deep just waiting to break your leg or fracture your pelvis. The food was not good - if you were expecting fish in a beautiful wine sauce or a piece of chicken/lamb/pork in a rich sauce forget it. We dreaded the meals. We have had holidays all over Italy and never have had such poor food. The hotel certainly has a suit of armour in the hallway but their pictures of bikes for rent must have been taken 14 years ago - they are now just a load of rusting metal fit for the skip. Loveholidays have clearly mis-sold me by accident or design I do not know. Would you trust Loveholidays to provide the holiday you booked ? - I never will again"

"The hotel is exquisite. The villa renovation was done with an eye to preserving the character of the Villa, while at the same time allowing for modern conveniences. Each space in the hotel felt comfortable and inviting. We had the Jr. Suite and it was quiet, and full of light during the day , with a beautiful view of the horizon. The Villa Boscarino, sitting on a hill in a residential neighbourhood, is a short drive from the heart of Ragusa superiore. One would ideally arrive via car. Parking is uncomplicated. The hotel staff were wonderful and organised dinner for us on short notice for two evenings. Breakfast lovely - fresh fruit and pastries, really special. We would definitely stay here again."

"We spent a week here and would definitely recommend it. The hotel is excellent value. The rooms are nice although room 109 has a very small shower. Spacious pool and garden area. Located in a peaceful, rural area of Sicily. We drove to the beach every day. But the gem of this place is the restaurant. The locals flock here every evening - but don’t worry it’s not near the rooms so wouldn’t disturb you. Delicious food - try the mussel soup. The pizzas are amazing. And all served by lovely staff. A real family feel."

"The hotel is situated above an olive farm with stunning views. I think they do a lot of weddings at the weekends, and it's the ideal setting. We only stayed one night, in a suite with views of the countryside and the sea. Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Our suite was spacious, with a separate living area, including kitchen and sofa, as well as a large balcony. It was spotlessly clean, and the bed was comfortable. We did have an issue with the balcony door which the staff had to resolve. Also, I don't think the air con was working correctly. However, as it was October, this wasn't a major issue for us. We ate at the restaurant as it was more convenient than driving into Ragusa or Scicli. However, both are fairly close, only about 15 minutes drive. The restaurant was very good, serving high quality cuisine. Breakfast was served in a separate building next to the pool, with views of the countryside, and was also excellent. After checking-out, we were able to go for a walk through the olive orchards before leaving. There are beaches about 15 minutes away, for those staying longer than we did. The hotel was very good value for money and would make a good base for anyone wanting to explore the surrounding area by car. "

"Amazing B & B. The hotel which was a palace dating back to the 1700's. It was incredible expeirence in many ways. The family that owned the property from it inception still lives there and operates it as a hotel. The Baroness, is a charming and hospitable host. She treats you like a house guest..nothing is top much. The staff there is limited but very helpful and engaging. Beautiful spacious rooms full of original furniture. The hotel is like a museum."
