"The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. For a new hotel, they took a lot of short cuts and they need to go room to room and fix things. There is a light switch by the door that doesn’t turn on any lights, the lighting is minimal, the air conditioner and the bathroom fan both sounded like an airplane ready to take off! On a positive note, the bed was comfortable. The gym had 2 broken bikes and old treadmills making it unappealing. It did have a nice bar and coffee cafe."

"The room is not big, the air conditioner cannot be controlled in the room, I almost froze to death. The waiter had a good attitude, was happy at work, and had a relaxed and pleasant chat. The restaurant closed at 8pm and the tent curtain banged in the wind, but the staff was indifferent. The breakfast is all ready-made and of very poor quality. It feels like a rural-level farm stay. It's a waste of such a nice castle."

"Location is centered in Newport so walking through the village and docks was easy. We only used the car for excursions. We had our dog with us and the Vanderbilt team were as welcoming to him as they were to us, he was given a bed and bowls. The room, an Alfred suite, was comfortable, clean and luxurious. Mini bar stocked with Nespresso, hot water maker and nice teas, mini fridge and bar sink. Bathroom amenities very nice. Linens lovely and it was very quiet. Because we had our dog with us we didn't eat in the dining room but did eat breakfasts in the library and dinners in front of the fireplace in the parlor. The food was very delicious. We could've eaten in the outdoor garden but the weather was a little too cool. We enjoyed the spa - I used the sauna and my husband had a massage. All of the staff were so welcoming and accommodating - after a day it felt like home. I highly recommend Vanderbilt Newport."

"I enjoyed my stay here. The room was very clean and cozy. I really do not stay at bed and breakfast, but I did enjoy this for a first timer. The room we stayed in was on the second floor. If you do not do steps, you would not be able to stay here. It would not be a handicap accessible place. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and there were a lot of choice. It does get rather crowded breakfast time on the weekend so if you get there at 8 o'clock when breakfast begins, you will get your choice of a seat. I do not think this is a great hotel to bring children to, but if you were an adult a couple people doing a girls weekend it's great."
