"The New White Lion is utterly wonderful. The room we stayed in was delightful, we arrived during a heatwave but the room was pleasantly cool with the addition of a fan. Everything was impeccably clean. My wife has reall specific food allergy requirements but these were met with such thought and kindness. Alternative milk was provided and a whole breakfast menu devised making her feel like she wasn't missing out. We are so grateful for this. All food is locally sourced where possible and cooked to an incredibly high standard. Everything has been well thought through making it very luxurious. We would definitely stay here again and highly reccomend to everyone."

"The minute the door of the room was opened my first thought was, I can’t wait to go home. It was tired, very very basic, not an accurate representation of the pictures online. If I’d have seen this room (room 14) in the photos we wouldn’t have stayed. All night there was a loud bang and whirring, every single minute from what I can only imagine was plumbing. Kept us awake all night. The couple in the room next door were supposed to stay another night and after talking to them they had opted to vacate due to the noise. We visited reception at 2am to see if the noise could be stopped but no one to be seen. Breakfast was salty and the dining room had no atmosphere. We reported the noise in the morning and it didn’t come as a surprise to the gentleman who said, yeah that’s been reported before. It was honestly horrendous. We will not be returning and advise anyone staying to avoid room 13 and 14 like the plague. In fact avoid the whole place, take a tent, stay on a central reservation somewhere, you’ll get a better nights sleep."

"Lovely pub, well located, very pleasant staff. Food was exceptional as was the service. The room was basic but clean enough. The log burner hasn’t worked for years which disappointed us.. the pub is cold as a result. People wore coats to breakfast. Overall, good value "

"Stayed here with friends for a relaxed Christmas get together. What a beautiful hotel! Well maintained, very cosy and great location. Rooms were large & clean with a very comfortable bed. Mark & Karen were fabulous hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was freshly cooked and really tasty - and plenty of it. Poppy (the dog) is a little darling who also made us feel very welcome. There was an honesty bar which was fully stocked with every imaginable tipple, which we made good use of All in all it was a great stay - would definitely recommend. Thank you all x"

"Ordered 4 adult beef dinners and 2 child beef dinners..2 dinners arrived and waited 5 mins for next dinners only to see waiter take them off next table and said he’d given them to wrong people and was told don’t worry they hadn’t touched them 😔 adult dinner consisted of 2 slices of beef which was nice a Yorkshire pudding on top,1 carrot,1 roast potato,1 parsnip and a pile of what I think was undercooked kale.brought us 1 dish of cauliflower cheese which had to much I think was mustard in it but that dish was between 6 people where other people had a dish between 2..dinner cost us £96 and we left disappointed and still hungry wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend this place we have had much better dinners with more then 1 potato and less in price 😔"
