"Very DISAPPOINTED and BAD Service In case if you are planning to leave from this hotel in late nights, please do NOT depend on ride from this hotel. Here is my experience, I traveled to Colombo, Sri Lanka and reserved the East Lagoon hotel for 2 nights on December 19 to 21. Took the train from Colombo to Batticaloa arrived late night (around 11 PM) on December 19th, where no issues in the transportation from Batticaloa railway station to the hotel, since I hired a tuk tuk from the station (plenty of them available as they wait for passengers from the train). Next day, before I leave from the hotel in the morning I went to the front desk and asked the receptionist (his name is Dhanush) for a taxi or tuk tuk later in the night (around midnight) to catch the train from Batticaloa station (leaving at 1.30 AM on Dec 21, 2023) to back in Colombo. His response was "yes no problem we can call the tuk tuk any time and not an issue". So I trusted his answer and I did my personal visits in Batticaloa and later in the afternoon/evening went for walk in the town. It was a very beautiful experience and enjoyed my short visit to this beautiful city (went after more than 35 years to this city). Later in the evening I came back to my hotel room, refreshed and had a rest for couple hours. Closer to midnight I packed my stuff and went to reception to check out and asked for tuk tuk service. Same person (Dhanush) told me that nothing available and you have to find your own way. I was shocked and replied to him saying that "you confirmed in the morning and now you are saying no", for that he simply said "we can NOT do anything and you can walk from here and catch a tuk tuk near some hospital". Very arrogantly told me and not even apologizing it or didn't find a way to help me out. Simply walked away and he was concentrating on his other work (importantly made sure to get the money from me for 2 nights and gave me the invoice, which I have the scanned copy attached and it has all the times of check in and out). I waited for 5 minutes as I was expecting them to arrange something but no response. So I took a risk and walked away in the midnight (security at the gate was shocked and he tried calling someone and no luck). Please think that I'm going to this town after more than 35 years and everything changed (don't know the streets well too), raining, carrying a big bag, very dark and some areas of the road doesn't have lights, not a straight road to station and plenty of street dogs all over the place (which are very aggressive in the night). Finally took me about 30 minutes to arrive at the station with full of mud on my feet where I stepped in darker areas of the road. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE AND SO PANICKED until I reached the station. If they have told me this response in the morning (when I inquired in the morning for the taxi service later in the night), then I would have pre-arranged through my contacts in the morning or arranged from the town (I saw so man"

The room sizes were big and the toilets are vey clean .All the staffs are very friendly .we had some lovely time at the beach with beach sports . I have to give a huge thanks to GM Janaka for his warm welcoming and hospitality . Lovely pool and the view was stunning . The food was average may be its a off season . I'll definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay"

"J'appelle une heure avant d'arriver : on me confirme que le restaurant est fermé mais que l'accès au bar et à la piscine est possible pour 1500 roupies. Una vez en el lugar, me preguntan si soy agente de viaje y respondo sí, dando mi número IATA. Y entonces el receptor me explica que debe llamar al GM para validar, mientras que me aseguró una hora antes que todo estaba bien. Entonces me anunció que el hotel es ahora completo, que finalmente no pueden aceptarnos, y que el GM "est désolé". Serios? 1. ¿No tienen un sistema de reserva para seguir su tasa de ocupación? Une blague. 2. ¿El hotel se ha cumplido en una hora? Otra broma. 3. ¿El GM se ha desplazado para recibir un agente de viaje? Claro que no. El hotel está prácticamente vacío, pero se oculta en su oficina. Es inaceptable de tratar los clientes, y aún más los profesionales del sector, de esta manera. Mentir, escapar de sus responsabilidades, dejar que el personal improvise frente a los clientes: todo es menos profesional. Si usted es GM, demuéstrelo: baja, asume, y explique. Pero no se esconda detrás de un equipo que claramente no tiene los medios para gestionar este tipo de situación"

"Se trata de un hotel de lujo, totalmente apartado de los locales (de hecho me sorprendió que la puerta del hotel esté cerrada durante todo el día). Paseando por la playa puedes comprobar que es el mejor hotel de la zona, está situado en la mejor zona, donde la arena está más limpia, donde hay menos piedras, donde se está más alejado de la verdadera Sri Lanka. Esperaba playa con palmeras idílicas y eso no lo encontré. Los apartamentos son muy amplios, completos, nuevos y limpios, incluso limpian las habitaciones 2 veces al día. Las cenas de buffet nos gustaron mucho, estuvimos 3 días y cada noche la comida era diferente, pero sobre todo muy rica. Los almuerzos los tomamos en el bar de playa; salvo el plato de marisco (demasiada parrilla, demasiado hecho) los demás platos que comimos estaban ricos. La piscina es pequeña y poco profunda, pero perfecta para descansar frente al mar. Y en cuanto al personal, muy serviciales, muy atentos, muy amables; tanto en recepción, como el personal de limpieza, o los que atienden los restaurantes. Muchas gracias!! Eso si, los precios son muy elevados comparados con otros hoteles del mismo nivel, y además tienen los precios en dólares americanos, así que ... precios nivel Europa o USA."

"We visited Kalkudah Beach House as the final stop on our two-week holiday in Sri Lanka and it was without a doubt the highlight of the entire trip. Set next to a beautiful beach and palm-filled lawn, the Beach House is the perfect place for a relaxing end to a holiday. The Beach House has a wonderfully intimate feel. The rooms are excellent, the hotel has all the facilities one could ask for, and the staff are friendly and skilled. A gorgeous, secluded beach is right out your door; we were completely speechless when we arrived. Our absolute highlight was a day trip out to Kumana National Park for a safari that we are still talking about. That said, we didn't need to leave. The pool, games of croquet, and long walks along the beach kept us more than happily occupied. A special mention must go to the chef, Sugath, who is an absolute star. The food was genuinely some of the best we ate across the entire trip. We can't recommend the hoppers (made on request) enough! We were gutted to leave and are already dreaming about going back. We would recommend Kalkudah Beach House without hesitation."
