Reflecting on my visit to the Amalfi Coast four years ago, that spring day remains an icon of absolute beauty in my memory. 🍋🌊​Our journey began in charming Sorrento, winding through the "Golden Triangle" of the coast: Positano, with its jewel-like houses suspended between sea and sky, and Ravello, where the silence of the gardens feels like a touch of eternity. But it was in Amalfi where my heart beat the fastest.​⛪ ​As someone who proudly bears the name of Saint Andrew, visiting the Duomo di Amalfi (Cattedrale di Sant'Andrea) was far more than a tourist stop; it was a deeply personal pilgrimage. Climbing those 62 imposing steps felt like leaving the modern world behind to enter a realm of grace.​The experience of stepping into the cool, history-laden interior and finding a moment of reflection at the relics of my patron saint—who is also the protector of the Romanian people—was a moment of pure transcendence. It was a silent, powerful connection between my name, my faith, and a level of beauty that truly takes your breath away.​✨ ​The architectural fusion of Arab-Norman styles, the glittering mosaics of the facade, and the serene Chiostro del Paradiso (Cloister of Paradise) make this cathedral one of the most stunning monuments in all of Italy. Even now, looking back at my photos, I can almost feel the salty Mediterranean breeze and the intense, sweet scent of lemons that permeates the Amalfi air.​Traveler Tips:●​The Steps: They are steep, so take your time and enjoy the view of the piazza from the top.●​The Relics: Do not miss the Crypt; the atmosphere there is incredibly solemn and moving.●​The Connection: Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello—each has its own magic, but the Duomo is the spiritual heart of the cost. ​Amalfi reminded me how beautiful life is when lived with gratitude.

We visited Mount Vesuvius as part of a full day that included Pompeii and it was absolutely wonderful.As we ascended the mountain we stopped mid way for the best pizza I have ever tasted. The little restaurant (which I am ashamed to say I don't remember the name of) unfortunately had a power outage shortly before we arrived. That did not stop them from welcoming us warmly and providing wonderful wood fired pizza for our lunch.From there it was on the Mount Vesuvius herself. There was poor visibility but luckily the rain had passed and we were able to hike to the rim of the crater. Unable to see in to the rim itself because of the low lying fog did not dampen the wonder of being at the top. If anything it added to the magic. Truly an experience of a lifetime.
