Hoteles con Spa en Argyll y Bute, Reino Unido

We booked 2 rooms 1 night last minute booking. I got Junior suite for me & my husband. Room is very spacious for UK standard, sea view is very beautiful Seaview. The hotel has lift thats very good for travelers with many luggages.The room is a little cold so we switched on spare small heater which is warm enough. Their specialist amenities are very good. Whisky Honey. Oh.our room door isn't working, that's pretty scary.

El hotel no cuenta con elevador para accesar a muchas de las habitaciones. Muchas escaleras, laberintos, subidas y bajadas para accesar a tu cuarto. No hay aire acondicionado y tienen pocos ventiladores que te proporcionan en recepción pero están sujetos a disponibilidad. Tienes que pedir que hagan la limpieza de tu cuarto diario, y aún así no la hicieron un día en el nuestro. No hay teléfono en el cuarto para comunicarte a recepción, cada vez que necesitas algo hay que bajar. El agua de la regadera sale con muy poca presión y es un triunfo que te salga tibia. Cómo a las 6 de la tarde el olor a comida invade mucha parte del hotel. Anuncian que su alberca techada está con temperatura agradable, no es cierto, está fría. Igual las regaderas de la alberca con poca presión. El hotel está bien ubicado, por fuera se ve bonito, pero ya que lo vives si le hacen falta muchas cosas para estar agusto. Las chicas de recepción: Pamela, Uliana e Ilse son muy atentas y amables.

Gran hotel, buen desayuno, buena higiene, amable servicio de recepción, muy buena, buena ubicación, hay mucha comida deliciosa cerca, elegiré reservar la próxima vez, hay un estacionamiento

La recepción fue muy cordial. Fuimos llevados por la casa, teníamos una hermosa habitación con vistas al agujero Shira. Robert & Jana (los huéspedes) nos dio consejos muy valiosos para excursiones en el entorno. La habitación era muy saborosa y equipada con todo lo que necesitas. La sala de desayuno también ofreció vistas al mar. El desayuno era excelente con ingredientes regionales y se nos preparaba muy amablemente fresco. Estamos ansiosos por pasar más noches aquí en el futuro - 10Sterne de 5. Gracias a Rob y Jana. Peter y Ulli

We love Islay and had heard so much about The Machrie after its makeover and so, when my wife was given a voucher to stay there on her retirement we booked up. The booking process was a bit ‘clunky’ as we were trying to book dinner as well as golf and a two night stay. It seemed that none of the departments spoke to each other, and when we followed up we were always answered by a sister hotel in Wales! On arrival, we had a great experience of check in and the room was lovely with modern appliances and nice toiletries….very relaxing. Dinner on the first night was really tasty and was served (very quickly) by a really nice young recruit from Glasgow who was loving his time on Islay. All good, if rather pacey instead of leisurely. Up the next day for breakfast…..and this is where the hotel, charging £450 a night for B&B really let itself down. It took ages for a surly staff member to notice us at the ‘wait to be seated’ sign and allocate us a table. The self-serve buffet was always empty, needing more fresh fruit to be laid out. Staff were not friendly, orders were mixed up and service was slow. We were not the only guests experiencing this. Truly awful……and we were to have breakfast there again the next day! We golfed at The Machrie and what a joy that was. Delightful course in immaculate condition with wonderful views. Absolutely excellent. We decided to dine out the second night and after a super comfortable sleep, faced the same nightmare for breakfast. We raised this at the time and believe poor attitude coupled with poor training leads to high turnover of staff (most were new) and a dreadful reputation (which we later discovered is known throughout the island). Having completed my survey on the ferry home in which I said I wouldn’t be back and would not recommend it to friends, I got an e mail back saying thanks for doing the survey and look forward to you coming back! I have delayed this review to see if the survey was picked up but it hasn’t been and so I’m now giving my views. I can only say to the owners (ex BBC Chairman Glyn Davies and his Baroness wife) thank you for the investment and improvement to this hotel, thank you for the improvements on the golf course but don’t expect staff to stay if they are not trained….and with that, don’t expect customers to return

As most reviews say this is a beautiful place ! Buildings , the rooms and the island absolutely beautiful… But! Food was a little disappointing. We had booked afternoon tea which was put on the table and our backsides were hardly sat down! It consisted of the most basic of sandwiches 4 scones and some cut up cakes which I’m sure we got served for dessert that night and at £40 a head you can’t do that! No French pastries no sausage rolls!!! Very basic ! Oh and one cup of cold coffee no pot in sight. That night had to have our fine dining dinner in the deck restaurant because of some work being done in the main restaurant but there was no mention of this when booking. So a bit disappointed with that. Need to let people know about these things. We had our 3 course fine dining dinner in under an hour and it was just ok and expensive…don’t know what the hurry was🤷🏻‍♀️ then at breakfast we waited ages for our food it was quite a nice breakfast though. If the restaurant and food side was just a bit more polished and tweaked it could be fabulous and it would justify the prices and 5 stars for me but sadly it wasn’t…

Great location with lovely views over the bay. Easy walk to centre. Comfy bed , good shower although quite a small shower room. Breakfast made to order was very nice. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner including scallops and lobster. The lounge area is nicely decorated and cozy. We enjoyed the spa and was good value activity for a miserable afternoon. The staff are very helpful especially the guy on reception and the barman.
