Checked in really late (around midnite but they held my room. I called ahead to let them know I'd be flying in late. Conveniently located on one of the major arteries, which incidentally conveniently ends at the US Coast Guard Training Center. I attended my son's training graduation but his checkout went long - probably because their NCO missed them and didn't want them to leave....so I ended up checking out of the hotel much later than the standard checkout time (11am - I checked out just after 1pm) - but because it was USCG related - they waived the late fee - which was greatly appreciated. The entrance was easy to park (it was raining) and checkin was really simple once we confirmed my reservation. The breakfast nook was directly opposite the checkin counter which made things easier for later that morning (included breakfast). The elevator hallway had a machine which dispensed junk food and sodas - but you need physical cash to use them. Elevator made for deja vu as it's a standard Radisson layout. The room was clean - no weird smells and quite large and spacious with a receiving room (sofa and tv) hot water pot for coffee tea etc. The bathroom was well stocked with towels but the body wash was weirdly located next to the bathroom sink instead of the shower - that was strange. Hand soap was nice and sizable (useful as a body wash, given the fixed location of the body wash next to the sink). The bed was huge (king?) with plenty of pillows and bedding (sheets blankets etc). The room was quite warm which was nice since it was cold and wintery and wet outside. Staff were all very very nice and welcoming and polite. All in all - most excellent experience from checkin to checkout. But it's the staff which make the experience smooth and enjoyable.

We enjoyed our stay at The Colonies overall. Our condo was clean, the grounds were well maintained and every staff member we interacted with was lovely and welcoming. My biggest concern was the pool. Our welcome packet said guests needed bracelets and towels had to be checked out, but there was no access control at all. When we asked for bracelets, the front desk staff waved us on. All of the gates were wide open and there was no way to verify who was actually staying at the resort. The pool was extremely crowded and chaotic without all of the seats being taken up, so I can’t imagine what that would be like and I think having a lifeguard or several more staff members present would help keep it safer and more family-friendly. As a mom, the lack of controlled access made me especially uneasy. Any child could easily slip in or out of the pool area. We also had a very loud neighbor who had their door propped open while cooking fried fish, so the smell came into our condo all night. There was also a lot of yelling and door slamming until after midnight. I never brought this to the front desk because at that hour, I didn’t feel there was much they could realistically do without making it obvious which neighbor complained, so we just dealt with it. We are very laid-back, easygoing people and don’t typically have many complaints, but unfortunately, we found this stay to be anything but relaxing. Between the pool situation, inconsiderate neighbors and the noise, I’m honestly not sure we would stay here again. The staff themselves were wonderful; these were simply issues with the overall experience.

In pics and in person the modern fresh room style is appealing though the functionality is sub-par. An example: one night table was a solid piece, no drawer or shelf with the top diameter much smaller than my laptop. Typically, a phone (use as an alarm), a bottle of water and an iPad , e-reader or book/magazine would be on a nightstand. Whoops, no room for all that and the slick surface made me nervous to leave my iPad on it. The open closet is fine, especially for me as I don't hang or put clothes in a drawer, but the only space available that wasn't in the bathroom is directly below where one would hang their clothes and right above the fridge. This could make it a perfect spot for a soft sided cooler, but this relatively small space (didn't measure, maybe 14”x20” with Keurig-style coffee maker already on it) is where one might set snacks, extra sodas, the cereal one brings because they like to eat the same thing every day and need a spot to set their cereal bowl while grabbing milk out of fridge right below. Not sure about you, but I'm not terribly comfortable putting food & dishes in the bathroom. Unfortunately, that is where my coffee maker needed to go (if I'm remembering correctly) the outlets where not accessible so Mr. Nespresso did need to go in the bathroom. Bathroom shower had some mold around the caulk area, otherwise serviceable. Not a horrible room overall, but not as nice as other similarly priced nearby chains so I'll stick to those.

We spent the weekend in Wytheville to go to the FPHL Blue Ridge Bobcats play hockey against the Pee Dee IceCats. The location from the hotel to the Hitachi arena was excellent. We will be back on the 27th and the 28th! Thanks for treating us and the team so well!

I was taking a shower and grabbed a towel these onject were inside the towel folded up. When I told the lady downstairs named Amanda she apologized and gave us immediately 25% off but we have to call *********** to have them call us about the discount. It was sharp object and one of us could of cut ourselves on that sharp object. About that the service and free food was excellent

SÃO CONscientes: me dijeron ayer en el checkout que yo tendría mi depósito de $50 de vuelta a la noche. Entonces dijeron en 3 días. Ahora dicen en 5 días. Aún demuestran que me habían cargado en mi app de tarjeta de crédito... Así que veremos si lo recuperaré! Acerca de nuestra estancia: Si estás valiente y en un presupuesto, estarás bien aquí. El baño se está lleno de agua y el suelo se está lleno de agua. La puerta no está segura en absoluto, y la cadena de latch sólo podría desmontarse si alguien puso duro en la puerta. En la curta (o al menos lo que parecía ser) se encuentran tintas de sangre, que también tenían una gran cuerda en ella. PROS: No hay bugs y sin duda nos sentíamos seguros allí. Si en un pinch, nosotros nos quedamos de nuevo porque era barato (si yo recibo mi depósito, es decir. De lo contrario no es barato) Las personas en el hotel eran amables, sólo espero que no estén mentiendo sobre dar mi depósito de vuelta 😂 El desayuno era de cereales, pan, seco, huevos y salsa, y un fabricante de waffles. Si quieres una estadía refrescante, mira a otro lugar.

La habitación era muy buena. Este gran grupo se ha ocupado de todo el lugar. En la zona de televisión donde el salón estaba lleno de adultos y niños altos. Nos dirigíamos a nuestra habitación a las 8:30 de la noche después de salir para tener un tiempo más tranquilo. Los niños estaban golpeando la puerta mientras correban y bajaban el camino del hall, sí, los padres no los detuvieron. Pensé que esto se calmaría a media noche. La gente de la calle hablando mientras sube y baja. La habitación era muy alta, y la televisión se dejó ahí para ver si eso ayudaba, no lo hizo. El escritorio delantero debería haber hecho algo para detener este comportamiento. También era un huésped pagador. Muy decepcionado. Le dije al joven que me echó de la vista y dijo que habían tenido problemas con ellos toda la semana. El hotel está en el centro de la ciudad, donde se encuentra el hotel. Estaba muy molesto y muy intentando allí la mañana siguiente. Lo siento, pero se están marchando hoy.

Great location, clean and very accommodating! The kitchen is budget-saving tool. All necessary tools and equipment are available. Great experience for us.
