«I was recommended to stay at Mercure hotel by a family member. The hotel location was good and easy to find. Upon arrival, I was welcomed at reception, checked in and given all important info. There was a wedding at the hotel grounds. The first issue we encountered was soon after we left reception. One of the doors required you to swipe the key card to access the hallway where the rooms were located. The door would not open even after we tried using 8 different key cards. Another couple also tried to use their 4 key cards but it would not open so we were stuck there. The receptionist finally showed up and opened the door. We booked 3 rooms in total... My room looked well organised and tidy but the bathroom was not clean!! There was lots of hair on the bathroom floor and some grime/lime scale in the corners of the bathtub. In addition, the bathroom did not have a Toilet Brush. I went to the 2nd room we booked. That room also did not have a toilet brush. The window did not open!! The hotel had the audacity to put a warning note on the window stating that the window does not open. Instead of fixing the window to make sure that guests have a window that opens especially now since it is summer and quite hot. I went to the 3rd room we booked. That room also did not have a toilet brush. So all 3 rooms we booked had no toilet brushes!! The major issue in the room was the toilet was not flushing. The issues with the hotel rooms are all petty issues that should never happen in a 4 or 5 star hotel. It was quite dissapointing because we had issues right from the start before we even entered the rooms when the door was jammed. In addition, the hotel did not have any elevators which is a major disadvantage for people who are disabled or people who have issues with walking. The only highlight we have of the hotel is the buffet breakfast. There was a wide variety of hot and cold food available plus drinks. Breakfast was and the service was quite good.»

«The spa was nice, but the bed had bed bugs, and I got bitten. The shower didn’t have a handheld option, and the water pressure was poor. I checked in at 11 AM, which was fine, but when we returned at 9 PM, I mentioned to the reception that we needed the beds split, but that never happened. The manager came over and started complaining. I reminded him that our request had been confirmed in the morning. He was a bit temperamental at first, but it calmed down when I asked for an extra duvet.»

«Great two night break at Novotel Liverpool City Centre. The location was perfect for all the sights bars and restaurants. We went to see Barry Manilow concert and the arena was approx 10 -15 minute walk which was great. Had a freshly cooked meal in the restaurant called Ropewalks inside the hotel, we ordered fish and chips and New York Cheese cake. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced two courses for £20. The pool initially felt cold but was fine after a few minutes of swimming. I thought it was a very good hotel with good facilities in a perfect location and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit Liverpool»

«Negative points from our stay I travelled with my 11 year old grandson, I booked us a twin room, which we got. Unfortunately, the room was an adjoining room to a double and the ”activity” noises from the other room were so bad that we checked out at 11pm as I didn't want my grandson to have to experience that. It literally sounded like they were in the room with us. I would perhaps suggest that in the future you look at your guest list and unless adjoining rooms are with the same party, where children are in a twin, look to accommodate the couple in another part of the hotel where possible. I was disappointed that we were expected to pay £5 each to use the pool as I have never stayed at an hotel where it is not included in the room price. Positive All the staff were really friendly and helped as much as they could. The night Duty Manager was especially helpful and empathetic to my room dilemma but was unable to find us an alternative twin room, only a double which was not appropriate for us. We ate in the bar and the food was exceptional although a little pricey. The location was good and the hotel was easy to find. Be careful when you leave as there are two speed bumps on the exit, and no matter how slow you are going, it feels and sounds like your cars insides are dropping out. Rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable.»

«Amazing experience, everything was just perfect. The hotel is the only 5* hotel in Liverpool and it certainly lived up to its expectations. We didn’t eat Breakfast or Dinner in the hotel, the £29 price tag was a bit too steep for breakfast we thought. The room was amazingly clean and quiet. Although we had booked the Deluxe room, we did think the bed should have been larger than just a normal double, but it didn’t spoil our experience. The hotel is 5 min walk to Matthew Street and the Cavern and a 10 min walk to Lime Street Station.  Perfect experience would definitely stay here again.»

«The location couldn't be more perfect, the hotel is close to shops and entertainment. The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfy. The so much needed A/C at the moment was working perfectly and I loved the digital controller. Chocolates, biscuits, and hot chocolate in the room is a nice touch. The spa area could've been a bit cleaner or renovated but it was still enjoyable. The staff were lovely and attentive, especially at breakfast! Everything was very clean and pretty, thank you.»

«Beautiful location, lovely hotel. Staff were helpul and friendly. Nothing was too much of a trouble. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The spa is amazing and the treatments were reasonably priced. Food was very good. Would reccommend and would stay there again!»

«Room was clean, furniture is not modern but is decent. Room was very spacious and roomy. There was a wedding/party happening for 2 of the nights, which you could hear the music blasting during the night. I think one of the guests also passed out in their room, as reception was banging on their doors at 2am. Location was good with plenty of parking.»

«All good on nye to see a band - the layout in the room wasn’t great and the music was very loud couldn’t have a conversation even though we were at the back . However the unexpected bonus of burger and chips was fantastic»
