Floor manager and bellboy service was good but reception quality and efficiency was quite bad and does not live up to a 5 star hotel name. Check in process took very long and message to deliver luggage into room was also not arranged and the luggage was placed in reception whole day since late morning till late night and still downstairs after we are back from sightseeing. Room is also quite dated , and we have asked to change room after check in due to smoke smell in the room. The great thing about the hotel is it's location , location and location!

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The location is quite convenient to travel across different parts of the city. You could just book a taxi(via DIDI app) to Jimei Village school Metro which will cost you around 7-10 yuan, and from there you could travel to different sight seeing spots. There are some really cool spots surrounding this hotel and the one I liked the most is the Turtle garden which I visited every morning for a walk The hotel staffs are very friendly, responsive and helpful. They also upgraded my room to a better one to have a comfortable stay as I was a first time visitor to Xiamen I also happened to meet the owner of the hotel while checking out. She’s very lovely and came all the way to the taxi to say goodbye. The heart warming hospitality I enjoyed here will make me choose this hotel whenever I go to Xiamen again

Great place to stay when you're in Xiamen! We specifically wanted to stay by the beach and so we choose this hotel. It was literally a 5-minute walk to a beach that is more private and less crowded than the other beaches in Xiamen. Breakfast is very good with lots of options. Location is quite good too, it was very easy to get a Didi as they come directly to the hotel. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a Didi to come. Eventhough it's by the beach, other areas such as Shapowei are just around 15-20 min taxi ride. Big malls such as MixC and SM around 25-30 mins away, not too bad. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and would stay here again in the future.

Family of 5 stayed in 2 rooms. 1. Style: Perfect blend of cultural architecture with modern comfortable living. Very impressive! 2. Location: Excellent, within the cultural heart of Fuzhou Walking distance to famous pedestrian shopping belt. 3. Room: Overall thoughtful and quality furnishings. 4. Service: Attentive and caring, special attention re served to elderly guests with mobility issues. Owners were on-site on check in and helped with our luggage even though they are well staffed. Great leadership! 5. Breakfast: Subjective, good variety, however being a coffee connoisseur, quality of breakfast coffee has a lot of room for improvement. Overall: Highly recommended, will stay again!

EElizabeth Frances RoseThis place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

YYoke Boon TanThis is our first hotel after arriving at Xiamen. We stayed for 2 nights and we were given an upgrade to our rooms. It was very spacious and clean. Very nice view with a couch to sit around. Location was good as Didi to attractions are all within 10-20 minutes. Also, within short walking distance to eating/shopping areas.

FflubberGrand Honor Hotel is definitely the best hotel in Shishi, but it’s not quite the same level as a luxury hotel in a bigger city. Generally the hotel is clean, but it’s the little things that I noticed, ie when I checked in, there were some sweet wrappers next to the bowl of sweets that weren’t cleared away. That said, the sense of space is evident in the hotel lobby, lifts, corridors and most importantly, the hotel rooms. Rooms are very spacious and well-designed, although the closet area can definitely do with brighter lights. Most amenities are provided but what put me off is that many items that would have been free in other hotels at this price-range aren’t free at Grand Honor. There is a Chinese tea set on the table and usually the loose leaf tea is provided for free but it cost ¥15 per packet. Honestly it’s not a lot of money for us, but on the flip side, surely the hotel can provide a bag of tea leaves for their guests. There are the standard free single-use packet tea in the drawer so at least there’s that. In-room slippers are not to be taken out; they’d charge you if you do - and that’s fine, but the slippers are actually really uncomfortable to wear. The small plate of fruits (banana, plum and mandarin) given at 5pm every day is a nice touch. The hotel breakfast is probably the highlight. Set on the 22nd floor with panoramic views of the city, breakfast is very enjoyable. The food quality is pretty good, but a real surprise here is the sheer diversity of food. The bread selection alone has 5-6 choices (pastries, brioche, baguette, square toast, etc), the cooked food section is almost endless (and there’s cooked Chinese vegetables! 👏🏾) and then there’s the fruit selection at the end too. My only gripe is that the coffee machine is a bit slow, and there’s only one machine so there can be a wait for coffee. Location of the hotel is a little odd; good restaurants and the main mall is about 15 mins’ walk away. There aren’t many good shops to wander around nearby. Generally, this is a solid hotel for this price point. Excellent service with very fast food delivery (using the ubiquitous delivery robots) and friendly front desk staff.

PPK WoutersA little Oasis so near yet so far from the city! Right next to the Xiamen university main gate and walking distance to the sea and the so-called 'twin towers '. Ok the good news - large lovely bedrooms, good toilet, large bathtub and good large shower. All water pressure is good and plenty of hot water. Beautiful garden area off the lower level - private and lovely and green. Nice sunshine coming in. Now the less good - strange overall decor and setup - for example - the sitting area as you enter the place is rather spartan and sparse - only one couch (not comfortable) and one table, it could be better furnished and a lot more homey and welcoming. There is no fridge. There is no wardrobe to hang clothes downstairs. When they service the room daily they don't really make up the bed. The beds are large and comfortable with good linen and pillows. The location is great but uphill and long hard climb to walk and difficult for taxis to find and to travel on crowded single street. There are many steps on the property and no elevator or ramps so difficult for accessibility. The breakfast is limited mostly a simple Chinese food. Ordering coffee ☕ is a bit challenging in English and they are not really experts at coffee. No real food menu on site. There is no English at the reception or in the compound so you need translator service. The televisions (there are three !!) in the duplex have only Chinese channels. Despite this - we loved the place and will stay here again !! Highly recommend - just understand that it is not perfect but really quite good.

UUsuario invitadoThe staff were extremely friendly and attentive, even before my arrival. They tried to contact me in advance, but as a foreign guest, I do not have a Chinese phone number. It would be more convenient if the hotel could ask for guests’ WeChat IDs through the Trip.com messenger instead. Upon arrival, the staff created a WeChat group and added me in, which turned out to be very helpful. Through the group, they assisted with all kinds of questions, such as recommended places to visit, how to rent an e-bike, and where to eat nearby. The responsiveness and service were excellent. The room was awesome — very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bed was especially comfortable, and the view was fantastic. I also really loved the projector screen in the room, which allowed me to watch WeTV shows and other content. It made relaxing in the room even more enjoyable. The hotel provides e-bike rentals, which is a great feature. However, I was personally under-geared for the weather. It rained the day before, and the entire day was cloudy with temperatures around 11°C. The sea breeze was very strong and cold, especially when riding the e-bike with the wind blowing directly at you. Proper winter gear is definitely needed in such conditions. If the hotel could provide glove and jacket rentals, that would be an amazing improvement. In the evening, the staff even brought a small gift to the room. The gift was thoughtful and practical, and I really liked it — it was a warm and welcoming gesture that made the stay feel extra special. Breakfast was okay. Guests are seated on Level 2, and the meal is served to the table. As I come from a place where some Chinese do not consume beef, it would be great if there were options such as chicken or beef. That said, the beef noodles were actually very good. The Western-style breakfast, however, was quite average.

KKaren Wong 1114I booked two Family Friendly suite rooms, looking forward to spacious accommodations featuring a living room and child-friendly amenities like a mini slide, as shown in the promotional photos. However, upon arrival, I was given a much smaller room that didn’t match what I had reserved. I raised this concern at the front desk, where I spent quite some time. The staff insisted that the room we received was the same type we had booked, but I overheard them mentioning that only four such suites were available and they were already occupied. It felt like the hotel had overbooked and assigned us a comparable but inferior room. Considering we paid several thousand dollars for accommodations suitable for our two toddlers, it was disappointing. The hotel initially offered us two breakfasts as compensation, which we declined for several reasons: we’re not breakfast people, and the value of the breakfast (CNY 50 per person, totaling CNY 100) was insignificant compared to what we spent on the rooms (HKD 1,700+ per night each). The room they assigned us seemed to be a VIP type, priced at HKD 1,400 per night, meaning we effectively lost HKD 600 (HKD 300 per night for two rooms) due to this mix-up. Instead of breakfast, we requested two extra beds so the kids could sleep there while we enjoyed the larger bed. Although they initially insisted on providing only one, we pushed for a second bed since this situation was not our fault. I brought my concerns to Trip.com, and they handled it efficiently, providing compensation, which I greatly appreciated. Aside from the room arrangement issue, our stay was pleasant. The only downside was that the room felt a bit dark. However, the kids loved having free access to the park, where they played with rabbits and fished in the pond. Overall, I'd rate our experience a 7/10.
