«I recently stayed at the Palace Hotel & Spa in Buxton and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. However, the room was a little dark, and the lift was out of service during our stay, which could be inconvenient if you have luggage. The bed was too soft for our comfort, and it was difficult to adjust the shower temperature properly. On arrival we were told that the spa was closed for an event which was very disappointing as I booked this hotel because of the spa & had planned to use the pool & sauna. This should gave been communicated at the time of booking. The building and grounds were impressive but on arrival our featured superior room was freezing cold. The reception turned on the heating at our request but this should have been done hours before our arrival given that it was 8 degrees outside. We sat for an hour in the room with our coats on before asking for a portable heater due to the radiators being only lukewarm. The room never really got warm & when we came back from dinner at 9.15 the heating had been turned off again & we had to ask for it to be turned on again. The food in the restaurant was very good & the servers were lovely but unorganised. We planned to have a drink in the hotel bar but it was so cold that it was empty and not comfortable to stay. I heard kore than one staff member complain about the cold in the hotel. What could have been a very pleasant stay was spoiled by the cold. Unfortunately, we will not return.»

Stayed here for one night during my Peak District trip. The hotel is very well located, right in the centre of Buxton and close to the Pavilion Gardens, bus stops, and walking routes. The room was clean, comfortable, and warm — perfect after a long day of hiking. Staff were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth and hassle-free. A solid choice if you’re exploring Buxton and the Peak District using public transport.

UUsuario invitadoAn excellent short stay in this B&B situated above a tea room in the village of Bonsall.
Check-in is a small window of 2 hours between 2 and 4 pm but it does state that you can organise late check-in if you are stuck. Best to avoid the area around the Heights of Abraham when traveling in at the weekend as it gets very busy.
We were there just to check out the area for walking and it suited our needs perfectly. The owner greeted us and made sure we settled in and as a bonus, the tea room was still open to allow us to sample their delicious cakes before unpacking. We went to the Kings Head pub for dinner which is a 3-minute walk up the hill and I must say it was a good choice. Another place with great hospitality with a mix of locals and visitors but more importantly good honest grub.
Breakfast was probably one of the best we have ever had at a B&B it was plentiful and there was no compromise on quality, perfect to fuel us for another day on the hills.
Thank you for hosting us and giving us good value for money in an excellent location to explore the Peak District National Park.

The window frames, which are unfortunately rotting away, along with slipped, broken roof tiles due to lack of maintenance. We were a little disappointed that we could not order our tasty evening Indian meal from the on-site restaurant to eat in our room after a long day out and about, and instead had to eat in the poorly lit restaurant, so much so that I could not read the menu with the tiny writing and poor design colors. I would not stay again, as what was described as a standard double room on the second floor was in a converted half-eve loft with no view out of the roof windows. The ensuite was adequate, with a good shower; towels, soap and body wash were included, though only one pair of slippers. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room, which, in my opinion, was too expensive for what it is.

We used the NCP car park which was only. 5min walk.
All the staff were smart, well mannered and helpful.
The room was a good size and were surprised to have a full sized bath as well as a powerful shower.
Fantastic breakfast selection where all food was replenished as soon as it was getting low.
The only negatives for us was the fact we found some rubbish near the bed along with evidence of dust, one of the bed sheets was torn and one of the bedside wall lamp units was hanging off the wall but still functional.
Overall a really lovely hotel and ideally situated for the football stadium as well as taking in the local sites/ shopping centre (straight over the road)

UUsuario invitadoDisappointed that the pool wasn’t available due to refurbishment and was not advised of this in advance. Gym had everything you needed and sauna and steam room still open.
Also the restaurant was closed and only a limited menu served in the bar was available. Having said this, they made a real effort to make some tables in the bar look special with tablecloths and candles and the food we had was delicious and well presented.
Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive.
Room was spacious with a comfy bed.
Breakfast was typical buffet with hot & cold offerings. Smoked salmon was lovely touch!
Would definitely stay here again. Great value for money!
