We recently visited Zermatt for a couple days and had the pleasure of staying in the Jolimont. We booked a studio room with kitchenette and had a direct view of the Matterhorn from our balcony. We arrived early in the afternoon and walked to the Jolimont from the train station. There are plenty of golf cart type taxis to take you where you need to go as well. Upon arrival, we noticed our name and room number posted on the door. We went to the room, it was unlocked and the keys were on the table. Obviously this was a bit strange to us but this is self check-in and is becoming more and more popular. The room was nicely appointed and spacious for a studio. We had a small dining table and large bed with separate mattresses and duvets. The bed was very comfortable for sleeping and lounging. The kitchenette was stocked with utensils and dishes. Pots and pans and even some spices were also available. The coffee espresso maker only worked with Delizio brand pods so we had to buy some from the local Migros grocery store which was a short walk back towards the train station. The kitchen was also equipped with a two burner cooktop, small oven and under counter dishwasher. Everything worked well and were put to use as dining out in Zermatt is on the pricey side. The bathroom was my favorite part of the stay, aside from the view of the Matterhorn. Although fairly small, it was sleek and modern, bright and airy with an open shower wet room feel. The best part was the shower and the water pressure. It was amazing! I felt like I was getting a hydro massage every time I showered. Our trip to Zermatt was short but we will remember it fondly because of the stunning views and a very nice place to stay, the Jolimont.
