Nakasumi Ryokan

Stayed here while my friend and I were snowboarding at Gala Yuzawa. Accomodation here, near Echigo Nakazato, was much cheaper than finding a place near Echigo Yuzawa, and we could easily access Yuzawa via train from Nakazato station (10 minute walk, 1 minute drive). The service was excellent, incredibly informative and graciously accomodating our lack of Japanese (Travelling from Canada). The rooms and washrooms are clean, the included breakfast and dinner was amazing, they even provided shuttle service to the train station so we did not have to walk, although it is a short walk if you wish to do so. They have a large drying room for all your ski/snowboarding gear, and the rooms have personal heaters so you can adjust the temperature to your liking. The town itself is very quiet and family oriented, if you aren't looking for a lot of bars and restaurants its perfectly fine, otherwise the short train into Yuzawa is nearby if you want a little more action. Trains run every hour and the last train is at 9pm, taxi back into Nakazato is around 2900 JYN, so pretty reasonable. Overall, I would reccomend !
