The Moorland Hotel

As previously mentioned the exterior is dated but having read the good reviews this didn’t matter I checked in and was given room 5 wow lovely view from the window That’s where the positivity ends The toilet had faeces still on the side the shower area was riddled with black mould. The walls had damp and wallpaper peeling off There was no way I was staying there When I went to complain and say I would t stay there they didn’t even ask me what was wrong with the room. I was given the key to room 13 On first glance wasn’t bad Went and had food which was lovely Came back to room then started to notice more mould and peeling wallpaper sockets didn’t work etc The noises of people in the other rooms/corridor left me feeling unsafe and I resorted to wedging a chair under my door handle that night. There were a lot of workmen staying there but you can’t get breakfast until 730 This was no good to me or them as we had to leave for work before When I asked for the coat of breakfast to be refunded basically got told no !! I can honestly say this is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced and would urge everyone not to stay here ever

The Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food quality and service was excellent, had a really good stay. The hotel is of a certain age and could do with a bit of updating but was such good value for money that this really didn't spoil our visit.

The staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful, breakfast to order was spot on, food always cooked fresh, a very calm place with fantastic views, extremely good priced food and drink. Quick access of 10 minute drive to local or supermarket requirements. Lots of stunning walks with horses and sheep a plenty with many other wildlife along the moors. Already planning next stay

Me and my daughter went for a roast dinner at the moorland hotel wotter and the roast dinner was excellent, the atmosphere is really good and the staff are always smiling and their is a wonderful view from the hotel and they also have a pool table. I really recommend.

My husband and I visited had a lovely weekend at Moorland Hotel. Our room was on the 1st floor and was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant in the evening both evenings. The menu choice had a good range and was very nice. Breakfast had to be pre ordered, was freshly cooked and was very nice. The only thing which was slight disappointing was the Wi-Fi was not available in our room.,only available in the downstairs area. Other than that the hotel is a perfect place for a peaceful get away.

Absolutely disgusting we stopped for 15 minutes couldn't stop in this hotel Groupon need to review, it was disgusting. Advertised as a 3 * it couldn't be possible. I would consider this as ungraded. I expected a hotel in need of modernisation but it was dirty from the entrance door absolutely filthy, great first impression.The stair carpet was filthy. Dusty and musty. Doors chipped and knocked about The room had grey/ white bedding.I didn't look further! and grey / white towels and cheap, chipped pine furniture. A depressing room despite a beautiful outlook We stopped for 15minutes and that was too long At best it is used for workmen passing through not for anyone expecting a moors retreat I have neverfelt the need to vacate a hotel before You may not take this complaint seriously but I shall never book another break again Absolutely disgusting booked with false advertising Well at least we had a choice to vacate Visit the Moorland Hotel at Haytor Absolutely beautiful 4* hotel for not much more You won't be disappointed there
