Genuinely really pleased by the price and pub itself! Jess gave 5 star service and made us feel welcome straight from the start, a credit to the team. Lovely pub, great atmosphere and a pleasant beer garden. Had a lovely Sunday roast on a sunny Sunday.

We arrived early but were warmly welcomed by Robert and his staff. Our Room (Room 8) was large, slightly old fashioned and therefore welcomed. Standard double bed (very comfortable), large bathroom with a decent sized shower cubicle and very good quality towels etc. Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room. No in-room telephone but who needs them these days? On return to the hotel (taxis both ways booked for us by the hotel) had a drink in the bar (very reasonably priced) The dining areas and the bar area were very busy with family groups and their food looked delicious. After a good nights sleep, went down for breakfast where the meals are cooked to order. I had the best Full English I have had for a very long time. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for its comfort and customer service. The young girls who were acting as waitresses or bar staff were all pleasant and very efficient. Such a treat after the off-hand service that passes as normal in so many, more expensive, establishments.

Brilliant service. Meet with a nice hello from bar staff. Shown to are table by a lovely lady. We asked if could move table to one by window and was told yes. Very busy at lunch time which on a very wet day was lovely to see. Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Food came promptly. To full up for dessert. But will definitely next time. Booked to go back in august.

Living in the area, we had visited for lunch once quite a few years ago. We decided to give it a try once more. The decor in the restaurant was very dated. We both had Crab cakes for starters which were a little disappointing because of the amount of Crab in y the mix. However the Steak and Stilton pie was delicious and the Fish pie too. The Australian Chardonnay was very good

We used the dining room for a lecture at no charge. 11 of us ate in the bar afterwards. The food was excellent and reasonable value The service was excellent too. I would recommend them and we will be back.

Reasonable choice and I'd recommend the chicken and bacon pie. Service came with a pleasant smile and the whole atmosphere was very nice even though it was a quiet midweek night. Much better than a chain.
