Overall not a good night's sleep. Room 312, a twin room, had two single beds with old saggy mattresses. Not what we are used to in other Premier Inns. The room was terribly hot..yes the weather was warm, but it was 25 degrees during the night in the room (see photo) and there was no air conditioning. I used some tissue to wipe up some water off the bathroom floor and was appalled to see the tissue became blackened with obvious grime from the floor. I would say it's not getting properly cleaned. The receptionist's welcome was the most dour and unwelcoming we have probably had at any Premier Inn ever. Maybe they need to swap around and bring in some staff from other local Inns (eg Guildford North) to show these guys that friendliness can work. Would we stay there again? Almost certainly not, maybe in mid winter. What is nice is the canal side location, good for early morning exercise. Did we complain in the night about the room? No...once you're unpacked, changed for bed, washed etc, you don't get up out of bed at a late hour to start a rigmarole with reception. We mentioned it in the morning and we're reassured we could have had a fan if we'd asked. To be honest a fan wouldn't have solved this heat problem. My advice is ask for a room facing the car park which won't get so much sun on a hot day.
