Not surprised that the prices of drinks are not displayed at the bar. A pint of cider and a ginger beer cost £9.40....£5.00 for that soft drink. Staff were 'off hand '.

We popped into the Derby Arms after our walk for a drink and some food. It was pretty quiet inside but we got a drink and looked at the menu. When I came to order the sunday roast we got told that they only had one chef working and wouldnt be able to do any walk in meals. I didnt see anyone eating inside the pub and this was about 4pm. I said i was disappointed as weve been when its been busier and always managed to get some food. The waitress advised us of other nearby pubs were we could get food so next time we will take the advice and take our custom elsewhere. To be fair the Swan Blonde beer is always a good pint and i do like the pub but I just couldnt understand when it was so quiet why we couldnt even get a chip butty or something to tide us over.

On arrival it appeared to be quite busy with a nice atmosphere. When we were shown the room I have to admit to being a bit disappointed due to it being pretty small. It didn't look like the pictures on the website! No room for a wardrobe and once we put the dogs bed down there wasn't anywhere to put your case. The door handle to the bathroom was broken, a light bulb was out and the light above the mirror didn't work. The shower was good and the bed was comfy though. Difficult to do your hair as there was no socket near the mirror. On the plus side the breakfast and dinner were good.

Lovely place to stay with our dog. Food was amazing. We stayed for 2 nights and had 2 evening meals (5 pies menu) and breakfast. Couldn't fault this place. Beer and the wine was excellent. Cosy bed and great staff. They kept the roaring fires going which was so cosy. Relaxed atmosphere and would return. Dog walks in lakeside 12 to 15 mins down the road fantastic. Boat cruise to Bowness and back was so refreshing. Best break I've had in some time.

Stayed overnight which coincided with a music night which made our stay. Really busy Friday night. Had evening meal which was really filling and plenty of it. Both of us chose off the five pies menu. Then headed into the bar to watch the two bands which were very good. We found the staff to be good and friendly. The room was ok for one night and offered value for money in the Lakes. Breakfast was excellent which was in our room rate. We have no complaints and would return, ideally on a music night 👍

The customer service at this pub is the worse I have ever encountered - I have visited this pub twice for dinner and both times it was as if we were putting them out. Rude staff, small portions and disgusting attitudes - won’t be giving another penny to them. Would not bother wasting your time here.

Convenient for our venue. Good reception then left to enjoy without any problems. Fantastic to take 2 dogs free from any problems. Definitely visit again if in the area. Travel on M6 is the hardest. Although we didn't have food, it was a very friendly atmosphere in the restaurant with good menu.

If you enjoy creativity with your dining options then this is the venue for you!! Fabulous inn with super comfy rooms and free parking. Not in the middle of town but a great base for exploring the beautiful Lake District!! Innovative menu and ambience epitomising your ideal gastro experience. Our second visit and hopefully not the last!!

Service was excellent. Delicious salmon and chorizo fishcakes. Fresh salad tangy dip. Beautiful olde world inn. Proper latte coffee served with a smile. Tempted to book an overnight here as the place has a lovely atmosphere.
