It was conveniently located near restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, and other establishments, yet the surrounding area was very quiet and relaxing. We could walk to Bowness, but had to walk up a hill on the way back, so we took the bus. The staff were very kind and helpful, showing us directions to nearby attractions and carrying our suitcases up to our room on the third floor."

The environment is even more beautiful, a hotel hidden in the forest. The forest hot spring is quite good, soaking in the natural atmosphere, and the fatigue is swept away. The room is clean and tidy, the maintenance is also OK, the layout is warm, and it gives people an excellent living experience. The most praiseworthy thing is the service attitude of the staff. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, they greeted me with warm, professional and caring service. Whether it is answering questions or providing help, they are quick and thoughtful, which makes people feel warm. Here, I enjoyed a comfortable environment, high-quality service, and spent a good time. Highly recommended to everyone!"

"We called in as non residents for lunch on the terrace. We ended up going again twice more during our time in the lakes as we were so impressed. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and the staff on the terrace were exceptional. The food and drink were to a lovely standard. We booked on a lake cruise on the Albatross and it was wonderful. Definitely a must do if you are there. Rob and Pete on the boat were the most fantastic hosts. Unfortunately a lady had an injury just as we set off and they were so attentive and looked after her wonderfully. I would recommend to anyone looking for that touch of luxury to stay there. We will definitely be back!"

"I enjoyed my stay at St John's Lodge. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice ensuite shower room. The little fridge in the room was a bonus as there was fresh milk provided for cups of tea, and I was able to store a few provisions for packed lunches for my walking trips. The staff were all very helpful and the breakfast was excellent - lots of choice of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, and cooked breakfasts made to order. The location was handy for both Windermere, Bowness, Grasmere, Ambleside and Kendal, and there was a bus stop nearby so I didn't need to use my car while I was there. When you've explored the local villages, you can walk to the Bowness ferry and explore the other side of the lake which is generally quieter with lots of places to walk - Claife viewpoint, Wray Castle and Beatrix Potter's house are all within walking distance."

There is free parking, which is really nice."

"Just stayed in this beautiful little hotel what a gem of a place, right in the heart of bowness on Windermere a stones throw from bars restaurants the Lake. This property is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished too, French doors opening up to view the lake and mountains, also separate l8ving room area two seater couch mini fridge television on wall and fire on wall, tea coffee making facilities also, beautiful king bed dressing table wardrobe with hangers, iron hairdryer and also television on wall in bedroom area. You will pick your parking permit up which is £6 a day and parking is 5 minutes away, you can also use this permit in 30 parking places if you are sightseeing. The property does not do breakfast but you can book with th royal oak right opposite a stones show away and it £13 per person b8t you must book it with royal oak day before, was really nice breakfast and very hot coffee too. ..There is nothing but praise for this beautiful hotel l stayed in the Langdale suite, even the blinds on the front window which is massive bay window had a remote control, we loved this place and would definitely return here for location and beautiful property to stay ...thank you xxx"

"I took a side trip from London to take two tours with Great LakesTours (which were great) and needed a place to stay for 3 nights. Cedar Manor was perfect: my room, the grounds, the food, the common areas and bar were all beautiful. Jonathan, the host, was wonderful and ordered me a couple taxi's to get to my tour pickups in time. He was a delight to talk to also. I could also walk to the hotel from the train station. I highly recommend Cedar Manor."
