Cape Lodge

Hubby and I just stayed in the lakeside "suite" and were thoroughly disappointed in what we'd paid for and had major regrets choosing this place to stay for our special celebration. It was a tired old room in a depressing dark grey colour that is in desperate need of a makeover. There were several deep rips and stains in the carpet. The curtains were broken. There's an extensive amount of chips out of the paintwork/ walls everywhere. The furniture was all scratched, old and worn. Making everything feel unclean, tired and sad in there. With the amount you pay per night there is some basic maintenance that is not being done and should be. I am told managers are all very aware of these same issues and yet nothing is done which is disgraceful. Outdoor paved areas are all over the place and require cleaning, the garden outside the room is all full of leaves and has no nice plants. The outdoor furniture is uncomfortable and dirty. Outside screens are rusted, outdoor walls are dirty and chipped and guttering is full of leaves. Patching and painting of walls and screens are basic maintenance items that can be done with little effort or money. A floor rug to cover the carpet issues and brighten the room. More provisions of water, larger TV, ceiling fan, coffee machine, kitchenette, modern bathroom and automated blinds should all be included in the upgrades for increased guest comfort. The restaurant used to be "the" place to eat and now the food is average at best. Staff were polite and empathetic. Nice grounds including "lake" with wonderful birdlife and Koi fish. Great location in the SW and it could be just beautiful, so come on Twiggy inject some much needed life into your Cape lodge property and get it right! Until then, reduce the prices to better reflect value for money for your patrons, and be upfront about the condition of the rooms so people can make informed decisions about staying there and ultimately better manage the expectations of your guests.

Our third stay at Capelodge did not disappoint. Tranquillity abounds in this lovely setting. As always, the lakeside suite was clean and comfortable. The highlight for us on this visit was the dining experience. The wait staff were efficient and friendly. Obviously well trained in hospitality. Iris and Cornelia were especially good at their jobs. Finally, kudos to the chef. All the offerings were beautifully presented and delicious. The latest chef is a credit to Capelodge.

What should be a stunning luxury retreat feels more like a dated assisted living facility from the 1990s. Cape Lodge has incredible potential to be fabulous. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff is incredibly warm and helpful. And the structure is there. The place just needs a serious renovation. You cannot charge 5 star prices and deliver a 3 star experience. The Margaret River deserves what Cape Lodge could potentially be. Please renovate.

Thank you to the team at Cape Lodge. What a wonderful experience. The rooms and beds were fantastic. The facilities faultless, the staff and restaurant were excellent. Lots of little things done very well - the tea and coffee in the guest lounge, fridge full of complementary drinks at the pool, welcome drinks at the restaurant and very helpful staff. Fully booked on Sat and Sun but it is so well laid out, we felt like the only guests! Put this on your wish list.

The location was beautiful, and all the staff interactions were very pleasant. Our room was well appointed but showing its age, definitely needed a refresher. The hardscape was also in need of some TLC. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and were happy with the service and ambiance. Food was okay.

My wife and I just returned from a 2 night weekend stay. It was the best all round weekend experience we have ever had. The grounds set in beautiful native forest surrounding a perfect lake are glorious, the buildings are perfectly maintained and clean. But the staff and the quality of the food offering were sublime: Ryan at reception was welcoming and obliging and made us feel at home from the first moment - our requests of him were met quickly and with grace; In the restaurant Dani (from Italy), Leah (from France) were experienced, knowledgable and passionate about the food and wine we were choosing from as was Faruz (Malaysian) - they were there when you needed something and invisible when you didn't; the chef team of Adam (English) and Abigail (Malaysian) produced amazing food - original, fresh, local and sophisticated - some of the best we have ever eaten. We even saw Adam tending the vegetable garden where some of the food is sourced. They all worked as a team. We cannot sing their praises any higher. Congratulations!
