We had dinner here and I ordered ‘Rolled Wiltshire Lamb Breast, Slow Roasted Tomato & Burrata Risotto, Bromham sprouting Broccoli, Sunflower Seed Mint Salsa Verdi GF £24’. What arrived was a pair of coiled strips of greasy lamb with vegetables. It could have benefitted from some potato. After uncoiling the strips and scraping off the fat there was not a great deal of lamb left. It was a disappointing unattractive overpriced dish. Definitely not to be repeated. There would have been more meat on a pair of lamb chops.

We stayed in Taylors Gold (a dog friendly room) for one night whilst visiting elderly relatives locally. We got a reduction for a last minute booking which was just as well as no way would we pay £160 (plus an additional £15 for the dog) for this room. It’s way too small for a couple and a cockapoo! It was clean and comfortable but hot and cramped, no window to open, only doors. No lamp on one side of the bed. They no longer offer a bar menu either, its restaurant food and prices. Nothing offered for dog - most places provide a poo bag, towel, water bowl etc - what was the £15 charge for? We won’t be returning. Much as we hate Airbnb we could have got a three bedroomed bungalow for a lot less.

We had high hopes for this place as they have good reviews, but overall quite disappointing. We originally booked Tosca and Starkrimson for 1 night, but due to change of plans we emailed and ask if we could extend our stay to 2 nights. We stated that we would prefer to stay at the same room but don't mind switching rooms if necessary. Got a reply saying it was all sorted and a booking confirmation email, but it didn't state which room, so naturally we assume we are staying in the same room for both nights. However we were showed to different rooms(Bartlett and Comice), the rooms are nice but it was not we were expecting. The staff helping us check if she could move us back to the original rooms, but all rooms are booked obviously since it is summer. She said she could talk to the manager or get her for us when we come to dinner. Speaking of, we booked breakfast bed and dinner, nonetheless they asked if we are having dinner here, and apparently they do not have us on the list. Dinner was ok, great burger and ribeye, lamb a bit tough, chicken quite dry, orzo a bit overcooked. It was a busy night but still, dinner took us more than 2 hours. Service was really slow, took about 45 mins to serve starter, it was well over an hour when we received our mains. Second night's dinner was a lot quieter, only 3-4 tables including us, but service was just as slow. We ordered 2 craft beer which are in a can and it still took more than 15 mins, and 1 of the 2 is a different beer, we thought it was a new can design but when we asked, they brought us the correct one this time round. The Chicken Cesar salad and mac&cheese were very good. However our fish was so salty that we struggle to finish. Don't know if it's too much capers or the chef just over seasoned the fish. What a shame. Breakfast was good, nice homemade granola, full English and smoked salmon toast was good. Took about 10 mins for an extra cup of coffee to come, and we were the only table so we don't quite understand what was taking so long? What really made this experience disappointing was the staff. My partner went downstairs on the first night after dinner cos the shower water temperature wasn't stable. Manager said they could get someone to look at it in the morning but it wouldn't be a plumber, cannot guarantee if they could fix it. My partner also asked about our room situation, but felt like the manager was brushing him off. She was like the rooms are fully booked what do you want me to do. Well you tell me you are the manager? My partner said maybe a few drinks on the house and we did get free drinks at dinner on our second night. We understand it's late and maybe she was maybe doing some accounting, but her mannerism left a really bad taste. During breakfast on the day we check out, a neighbourhood cat came inside and the chef and we were petting it, another female staff came in and shooed it away, closed the front door and said it has to go home, that it wasn't allowed inside

We had a warm welcome, we we're taken over to our hut by a friendly and very informative girl. The hut was bigger than we had expected and finished with so many amazing little touches. We decided to have dinner here, the portions were good and the food was cooked to absolute perfection. As a chef myself couldn't fault a single thing, again little garnishes that I wasn't expecting that elevated the dish. And thr stp was to die for. Breakfast as expected was delicious!! Will be back here for sure! Thank you all for an amazing trip

Whilst visiting family who live locally, my wife and me have now stayed at the Pear Tree Inn on 5 occasions. Our previous visits were faultless and we enjoyed drinks in the garden and some lovely food. We have booked several different rooms and, until recently, never been disappointed. Following our most recent visit, the first thing to comment on is/was the state of the car park and garden. The car park had numerous pot holes and was very muddy as it didn't have sufficient gravel. Albeit it was winter, the garden, compared to it's previous glory, was still noticeably sad and unkempt. Finally, the shower had a broken on/off lever, resulting in it being difficult to operate and very poor drainage. The staff remain very nice and the food is still lovely. However, it's evident the pub is not as good as it once was.

So picturesque- a pretty old stone inn set in a beautiful English Country Garden. Spring at its best with daffodils blooming. Once inside a warm welcome and shown to our room, The Commis, situated within the hotel itself, overlooking the main courtyard. Huge snuggly bed, bath/shower with oh so fluffy big white towels. Good supply of tea/coffee, fresh milk, little homemade shortbreads - lovely homely touches everywhere. Flagstone bar areas with open log fires with two separate dining areas. Evening menu was very good indeed. Cod Loin was particularly tasty with generous amount of prawns. Save room for a sweet treat.....pear sorbet highly recommended! Breakfast - a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants with home made preserves followed by a choice of hot dishes cooked to order. The staff are a jolly, young team who all seemed to love working there and always had time to stop and talk to you. We chose The Pear Tree as we love to stop in this type of establishment - quality inns with just limited rooms and with a reputation of good food and friendly staff. We got that all at The Pear Tree and look forward to a return visit.

We took up the special "stay for one night only" January offer. We have often eaten at the restaurant but never stayed before. We have a dog and we found out that the accommodation at the back of the building is where you can come and stay with your four legged friend. We stayed in Seckel which is the nearest room to the pub. Beautifully set up room with a tea/coffee facilities (fresh coffee and cafetiere and various teas), a flask of fresh milk is given to you on arrival. Great walk in shower and Bramley products (left my hair super soft). Very comfortable bed. Great little armchair. If you were hot or cold, there was also a fan or a heater available (and the usual hairdryer). Everything was spotless. We had the dinner, B&B option. You can choose virtually everything on the menu and all we had to pay for as extras was our drinks. We checked in just after 3pm and went for a long walk with our dog (great paths nearby). We had a pre-dinner drink (so many gins to choose from, absolutely fantastic!). Sat by the fire. Dinner was delicious and the marmelade croissant bread and butter pudding the best dessert ever. The breakfast menu was very comprehensive. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We could not fault it. Thanks to the team at the Pear Tree.
