Absolutely wonderful hotel in a superb location. Our very spacious room was overlooking the harbour, a huge bay window, giving a fabulous view. The room was delightful, immaculately clean and equipped with everything you need. The mattress and bedding were superb, we both slept brilliantly. A big bathroom with lovely shower. Breakfast was fantastic with a great choice including a vegetarian full version, which for me was such a bonus. We got a lovely welcome from all the staff and great service throughout our 3 night stay (I wish it could have been longer) they were all fantastic and could not do enough for you. We cannot wait to go back to this superb hotel, we will definitely be booking the same room next time, we loved it so much. 10/10 isn’t enough for our perfect stay. Thank You.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Dolphin. Absolutely faultless from start to finish. Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast - tasty, freshly cooked and excellent choice on both mornings. Great choice of fresh coffees. Clean, comfortable, good sized room with a great en suite. Comfortable bed and spotless fluffy bedding. Great bath and power shower. Loved the fridge on the landing with milk and water - such a nice touch. Amazing view of goth weekend across the bridge. And all for a bargain price! Cannot recommend this place enough. We have already booked again for next year.

I had high hopes for The Dolphin Pub, given its prime location and reputation. However, my recent visit was marred by the unprofessional behaviour of the staff. While the pub itself has potential with its location and atmosphere, the staff's lack of professionalism and courtesy left much to be desired. I hope management addresses these issues to ensure future guests have a more pleasant experience.

Stayed at the Dolphin for two nights . Firstly I’d like to say what an excellent central location. Although we were a little early for check in was pleasantly surprised that the room was ready & even offered to carry our bags to room . Stayed in room 6 which was a really spacious room with a spectacular view of harbour. Room was nice & clean & had everything you needed for a short stay . Bed was comfy & had two good nights sleep. We enjoyed a Sunday roast dinner which was delicious & value for money. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings, fresh fruit, pastries , cereal , yoghurts etc & a full cooked English. The staff were all pleasant & helpful. A Gem of a hotel & will definitely be returning.

Had a nice family lunch here on a Sunday. They offer a range of roasts - beef, chicken and pork. I had the chicken, and my partner and beef. The chicken was lovely but the beef just ever so slightly tough. Lots of veg to accompany the meat and a nice Yorkshire pudding. They even offer smaller portions for the kids. When we went, the pub wasn’t too busy. The service was quick and friendly.

Enjoyed well kept real ale and people watching over the swing bridge. Newish landlord from Barnsley friendly and welcoming. Pub itself could do with a mini refurb but it’s clean enough. Did not eat but food looked reasonably priced. Would return.

Excellent base for a visit to Whitby and surrounding area. We were two couples making another of many visits to Yorkshire but not to Whitby before. It's a lovely town, plenty of charm and history and spectacular views of the North Sea coast. The staff at the Dolphin were great and were very helpful with suggestions on places to go and see. Special thanks to Tom, who welcomed us on our arrival. The breakfast was also worthy of special mention.

Stayed overnight last Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed it . Right from arrival we felt at home We were greeted by Owen who was friendly and efficient . The room (5) was very nice and comfortable. We went down for breakfast and Julie was so lovely and attentive and so very friendly . We will definitely be back .

We stayed last night with our brother and sister in law. Check in was easy, staff friendly and welcoming. However, our room absolutely stank of fried food. The whole place needs a good clean and airing. I couldn’t sleep for the smell it was so overpowering. Absolutely awful, I won’t stay here again. We’ve had to wash our all of our belonging this evening, even our coats and my partners best suit all absolutely stink to the end of the earth of old frying oil. We all felt ill at breakfast with it. Definitely need to improve the hygiene standards here.
