Lovely little site, staff attentive and came out late at night to replace a faulty gas stove. Blackcurrant bell tent had everything we needed, cosy and very chilled site. Lovely pub in wlaking distance and decent walk, we did the loop of Whichbury woods. My gripe was lack of recycling or rubbish info, cant believe that in 2024 a business has to suggest to take recycling home....of which nobody else seemd to do and just left it for landfill, for a wellbeing holistic approach to the rest of the site, surely this could be improved. My husbands gripe was the church bells, we were not aware how often they rang, (every 15 minutes for 24 hours) it didnt bother me at all though, earplus and wine i slept through. Shared loo/shower was just ok..will leave it there. A great break and base to stay.

Lovely little spot! Very quiet, and with all the amenities one could need (shower, compost toilet, kitchen area with kettle). Bags of logs can be bought for a fiver, and there are fire pits available for free. We stayed for one night and had a beautiful time drinking wine, stoking the fire and looking at the stars.

Spent a night here in my campervan and enjoyed the rustic, back-to-nature vibe. However it is only one step up from an upgraded field. The pitches and paths are mowed but little else, and whilst that may be good for wildlife (I'm all for that), it does give the place a slightly unloved feel. I wouldn't have even known there was a moat if it wasn't for the faded buoyancy aid on a post behind our van. It certainly wasn't easily visible. I didn't see any view, but then we had no welcome from staff so no orientation. We asked other campers where the loos and showers were. These are brilliant, incidentally, and were the highlight of the site! The photos on the website don't bear much resemblance: the communal lounge room is locked and appears to be being used as storage, everything is overgrown, limited signage and no welcome information. That said, communication via email for booking prior to our visit was good. The provision of logs for contained fires was appreciated and I hope the honesty box is filled honestly! It was a chilled 24 hour stay. I might return.

Probably the most beautiful, calm and tranquil campsite I’ve ever been to! We were met by a lovely lady who told us which part of the site we needed to be for our tent to have electric and off we went. Personally, I struggled with the loo and the showers, they were very clean, but a tad too rustic for me with the addition of too many arachnids! This is my personal issue so it’s not a niggle in any way! I love the peace of it and if I could maybe take my own loo and shower I’d go back in a heartbeat, but for me it’s a no! We had ducks behind our tent, sheep across the way, many pigeons cooing, pheasants somewhere, owls chatting at night and a resident magpie! Pure bliss x Little fire pits were amazing and the wood easy to grab ( we paid for ours in advance) and just pop your pennies in the honesty box. Just don’t take a bag that’s at the bottom of the cage, they’re very wet… Thank you for a wonderful few days,

This was the perfect place for the countryside escape we wanted before the busyness of the festive season. We hired the Little Dutch Cabin, which is a converted Wendy house. It didn’t disappoint either. The Friday night we arrived, we were greeted by Swampy, a very friendly, helpful chap who lives on site. He couldn’t do enough for us. He showed us to the lodge and gave us some tips for food nearby and also walks. We were very cosy in the lodge, with a wood burning stove and heater should we need. We had everything we needed, including our own shower/toilet cabin for our sole use - the shower was powerful and so warm. The location of the lodge, and rest of the campsite is in a designated dark zone so, plenty of opportunity to star gaze. It’s also a designated quiet site so, all we heard was the wind in the trees and birdsong, oh and the village church clock chiming. We visited to local pub for dinner, the Norman Knight the food was delicious and the staff are very friendly and it’s only a 7 minute walk away. The following morning we had breakfast in the Straw Kitchen and that was delicious too with a great atmosphere - still walking distance. Swampy told us of a walk through ancient woods and down to Long Compton which was a good 6 miles and full of wonderful scenery. We had a wonderful weekend - we’re glad we took our wellies since it’s very muddy on site but that didn’t deter us. It was a perfect escape for a refresh and reset.

Two July nights in the gypsy caravan was an experience, but not the £90 a night glamping weekend we expected! We were warned it was small, but found the pull out bed uncomfortable and claustrophobic. Thankfully, I had taken cutlery /plates etc, because the equipment in the outdoor kitchen was old and dirty. The tarpaulin was slimy and everything stank of wood burner. The site will appeal to those who want a quiet retreat, but the abandoned motor homes and yurts in disrepair were a depressing sight. The shared heated bathroom and helpful staff were the only positives.

Quirky little campsite with its own moat, stone circle, lovely hot showers and compost loos. Really friendly owner, Swampy, and a really relaxed vibe. Our son loved whiling away his time in the orchard hammocks. The Norman Knight pub is just up the road - they always said the restaurant was full when they didn’t seem to be so worth booking in advance. Straw Kitchen cafe also round the corner, which looked nice but we didn’t eat there. Pottery shop is also worth a look.

This was our first time camping , we wanted somewhere near the Cotswold Gin Distillery ( visit it .. it’s worth it and lunch was lovely ) We were greeted by Swampy .. really helpful and friendly site manager .. showed us around and gave us some local places to try . The site is quiet ( other than church bells - bring ear plugs ) no children and everyone very respectful . Hot showers and flushing loo with couple compost loos ( this was my biggest challenge lol but by day 3 of 4 it was normal ) We loved the simplicity of the site and as a dark sky area there were millions of stars visible ! Norman knight pub was good and although it doesn’t serve food on a Monday a local pizza van does amazing sourdough pizzas 🍕 we walked up through the wood to the Rollright stones - 5 miles .. Red Lion pub on way was fabulous too. We are camping converts from this wonderful visit - thank you 😊

Had a lovely night away! Lovely scenery, great facilities, a nice local pub and a very enthusiastic, helpful owner! The only issue is the local church bells ring different tunes every 15mins night and day (I’m not sure why it’s necessary ) but that’s not the sites fault, just bring ear plugs for sleeping! Thanks for a brilliant stay though x
