We were going to stay here for two nights this month, after experiencing some issues with this hotel we sadly had to leave the same day. As soon as we walked into the lobby, we were greeted by the “signature scent” of Aloft which usually doesn’t affect my allergies, but unlike our other stays, this time it was on full blast. It was so overpowering as in if they were trying to cover something up. When we checked in, the young man working the front desk was super kind. He gave us keys to our two rooms up on the 4th floor. (Rooms 431 and 433) When we got off the elevator, we were greeted by a different overpowering air freshener smell which clearly at this point we knew something was up with this hotel. The rooms were the worst as far as the smell, as soon as we walked in both the rooms the cleaning chemicals they used were so overbearing to the point where I could taste the smell. We were so so so disappointed! I got a migraine after being in the rooms for only a couple minutes. This was our go-to hotel in the Westerville/Columbus area, but not anymore. We haven’t stayed here in awhile, it’s been since March since our last stay here, but chemical-wise we’ve never had an issue like this. Weirdly, the only place in this hotel that didn’t smell of strong chemicals were both the elevators. If you have any kind of allergies or chemical sensitivity, this place is NOT for you at all! They clearly are trying to hide something in this hotel like mold, mildew, etc. However if you love strong perfumes, strong chemicals, and love extremely strong air fresheners, this hotel will be your new paradise!!!
