Family and friends were keen to stay together in Graaff-Reinet for a farm wedding out of town. Profcon were very accommodating, helped with booking everyone in depending on their family needs; helped with organising a meet and greet for the evening before- which allowed both families to get to know each other before the wedding. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, neat and comfortable. The restaurant food was good and the restaurant helped with a post wedding breakfast. The whole stay enhanced the weekend.

What stood out was the excellent restaurant where we experienced a unique culinary experience provided by Barbara, a qualified Silwood Chef, in the form of a 6- course Karoo Food Experience Dinner in which largely locally foraged ingredients are used and each course is differently presented depicting the history and heritage of the Karoo. The Ibis Lounge Restaurant is highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a different food experience. We will certainly return!

We stayed at the Drostdy on our way back Cape Town on the last night of 2024. Out of all our stays on our roadtrip, this was the most expensive and we were very much looking forward to stay here. This turned into a bit of a disappointment. The parking area was great and the staff very friendly and always helpful. We went for a swim at the pool, the state of the pool was very dirty with sand all over the bottom. Also, very few chairs for all the guests on the lawn. Before going to bed, we had dinner on the patio - the food was unfortunately a big disappointment. We chose the ”stars” on the menu and felt it was dry and underwhelming. After that, we went to our rooms, where every window was closed and shut. Unless you put the air-con on, there is no fresh air in the room. A ceiling fans and open windows can solve this problem. The decor is beautiful, but the rooms very dark and stuffy. We hardly slept that night, not due to any noise, but the state of the mattress and pillows were appalling. They need to throw this out and revamp, they were old and finished. We arrived (very tired) at breakfast at 6.30, there can also be a bit of an improvement on the choices. It is however great to hear that some of the money goes to new staff training and the community around and we believe the hotel has great potential, I really hope they will improve on some issues as we would like to see them succeed.
