I do NOT recommend anyone book one of the lodging, meals, and guided fishing packages with The Outpost. The fishing was great and the cabin was what you can expect with a cabin, however the restaurant is horribly run and we lost HOURS each day waiting for food rather than enjoying our time and doing anything we actually wanted to be doing. We didn't even get all of our meals either, so we did not get what we paid for. It is also not as inclusive as what they claim on their website. You are only allowed to order 1 entrée per person (no appetizers, no dessert) and some entrees are not included and you have to pay the difference out of pocket. On the flip side, if you order a less expensive entrée you get no credit for that. On day one in the morning we were served a buffet-style breakfast, but the food was all cold. The shredded cheese on the eggs was not even melted, that's how cold it was. At least it was promptly served however. When we came back in the afternoon to have 1 pound of our fresh walleye cooked up (which you pay for out of pocket), it took an hour for us to get it and it was somehow also not hot. Then we decided we better order dinner before the restaurant got totally crazy (which both the owner and our waitress told us was a good idea). We were subsequently stuck there for another couple hours waiting for our food, waiting for our bill, waiting to pay, etc. We were also charged on our credit card for our meals, even though we booked a package. We are waiting for the refund to come through. The next morning breakfast was served off the menu and instead of getting out the door to our fishing trip, we had to spend an hour waiting for a simple breakfast. The only people there were all people who had booked packages, and it was not crowded. I was then served the wrong breakfast and had to track the waitress down to get the right food. She gave me my omelet and another 10 minutes went by before I received my cold toast. All the while the coffee machine was pouring coffee on the floor because it's apparently broken and never stops running? When we came back later in the day for our 2nd meal that is part of the package, we waited over 90 minutes (all we ordered was a cheeseburger and a prime sandwich, which should have been simple since the prime rib was cooked the night before). After we had waited over an hour and a half with no sign of getting our food, we gave up and left. We decided to just leave entirely and did not stay the final night at the cabin either. Again, the fishing guide was great, but the food situation is not worth the money. You'd be better off bringing your own food or booking a fishing guide directly and staying elsewhere. The food is not great and you will wait hours for every meal, even when the restaurant is not crowded. When it is crowded, it is mostly due to the fact that the kitchen appears to cook one plate at a time and is incredibly slow. The manager and the waitresses appear to work very hard, but there is so
