The Globe Inn

Absolutely wonderful from booking our three night anniversary trip in March. I was very anxious as I’m very poorly with a life limiting condition, use a wheeled walker and oxygen overnight and portable. We hadn’t been away for years and everything was worrying me… the location, the room, the accessibility, privacy of room, food.. the list went on. Helen and Nikki the receptionists were brilliant! Nikki upgraded up to a larger room to accommodate all my oxygen equipment ( didn’t want it looking like a hospital room) it was room 11 which was on ground floor which looked out onto the courtyard. I was concerned as there was only one window and a frosted glass front door which both looked out onto a very public courtyard. But being out of season, no one was drinking or eating outside ( there’s a pizza oven outside too) I wouldn’t want to be in those rooms at height of season as privacy and noise would be an issue and possibly smoke from pizza oven. I mainly communicated with Helen who was so kind! She even called me as she didn’t want me to worry, she took note of all my oxygen requirements which was being delivered via NHS on day of our arrival. I explained how important our wedding anniversary was and the trip in general. She totally understood. She sent pictures of the room, booked us in for breakfast ( which is advisable as non residents also eat breakfast there, also book for dinner too) and nothing was too much bother. On arrival our welcome was warm, we were shown to our room, the oxygen was there, the room in another review was described as gloomy… obviously only having two windows facing the courtyard it wasn’t the brightest room,but the lighting was fine. I felt relieved straight away… and this was down to Helen, Nikki and the whole team! Every member of staff were friendly, respectful, warm and efficient. On our wedding anniversary morning at breakfast Helen brought over two glasses of fizz and when we got back to our room after quite an emotional day as I struggled to see the beach and sea due to my mobility issues.. there was a complimentary bottle of fizz in our room with a lovely card. I was able to rest before going out later. We did eat in the restaurant the first night and the menu was limited, but absolutely fine. Cocktails lovely too! Breakfast was good… too much for my small appetite, but you could choose how much and how little you wanted. Would definitely visit again, but wouldn’t want to stay in courtyard room if that area was being used by drinkers and or diners. Lovely place, amazing staff! Xxx

Lovely friendly staff in this great pub with restaurant at the back. Great choice and quality of food. Well behaved dogs welcome throughout. Outside seating overlooking a green. Well worth a visit but often need to book ahead for food - particularly Sunday lunch

Had a drink one afternoon then returned for a meal another night. Fantastic food and excellent service 👌. The outside covered seating area was great with plenty of heaters and seating. We will definitely go back the next time we visit Wells-next-the-Sea.

This is a lovely hotel with lots of nice touches, great staff & comfy beds but...you need to be very aware of where the room you are booking is. I was first put in a double room that was in the very busy/lively courtyard bar area and the room was right behind the pizza oven. You couldn't open the window at all because of the smoke and the noise from people sitting drinking/chatting right outside your room. The staff were brilliant and moved me to a lovely family room in the main building, which was quiet and extremely comfortable, but it was the only room left and had there been no availability I would have been stuck and not at all happy. I can't imagine anybody being happy in that room unless it's the dead of winter with nobody using the courtyard and no pizza oven in use. Also worth noting for anybody less mobile, a lot of rooms are up quite steep stairs, either in the courtyard upper level or in the hotel itself. As I said, the staff were wonderful and extremely helpful, the room I ended up in was huge, had aircon, was quiet and very comfortable, though no views as it was in the roof and only had velux windows. Breakfast was delicious and filling with lots of choices and cooked to order - and there's a wonderful little drinks terrace on the roof too. Recommended but only if you call the hotel and find out exactly where your room will be before booking.

We stayed overnight at the Globe and our daughter and son-in-law stayed at Arch House where they appreciated the quirkiness of the room on two levels. Seeing that I was using a walking stick and the rain had made the courtyard stairs up to our assigned room a little slippery, the amazingly helpful and friendly lady on Reception upgraded us, at no extra cost, to a large, well equipped corner room, number 12, with a very spacious wet room and useful grab rails. We had lunch and breakfast in the restaurant and whilst not fine dining, which it never claimed to be, it was perfectly adequate for a lively, bustling inn. We met many dogs and I have to say not one was a problem and we didn’t hear one bark!

Lovely stop here on our trip round Norfolk, nice beer garden with great selection of drinks, one of the best breakfasts we had on our trips round the area, friendly bar staff who couldn’t do enough for you, would definitely go back there, top place
