We had decided for NYE we wanted to do something special and we had been seeing a lot of Temple Point on Instagram and knew that that was the place for us to be for our New Year break. We live in Kenya and know the coast well but wanted to try somewhere new. Keeping it brief, we paid for the Deluxe room which promises a lot and I can confirm there is no need to pay for a more expensive room as they are all practically the same (there is no VIP check in and check out, there is no entertainment system, no executive lounge or facilities, no separate living room basically everything on the website is false information and not as you will receive the room). As soon as we were given our room we assumed there must have been a mistake and they simply gave us the wrong room, to our complete shock they advised that this is the room we paid for. Naturally we were not happy and spoke to Eunice, who advised us that the photos online are only 2-3 of the rooms, they are not all like that and we have been given a room that is not photographed. She also found it appropriate to laugh at us when we were showing her what was explained on the website, and that is what we went by when making our booking. It is categorically unlawful to state all Deluxe rooms come with these things and views and then give a room which quite frankly is the worst I have stayed in within Kenya. There was no compromise from the team until our third day when they said we could move rooms but at this stage we only had 2 more days left and quite frankly there was no point in doing so. Putting the room aside, throughout the resort it is dated and not well maintained and you can see all they have invested in is the Gym and Lichthaus (both which are great, no arguments there), it is a hotel which needs attention urgently. The staff everyday would ask us to pay for breakfast when we were on a half board, and everyday it would be the same frustrating conversation. There is no accountability by anyone in the resort, a simple apology and acknowledgment of false advertising would have gone a long way. Don't make the same mistake as us, and there are much much much better hotels in Watamu to stay in.
