We booked a last minute unit at the Aloha Junction Guesthouse when our other hotel fell through after traveling from Japan and driving all the way up to Volcano. The owner of the Aloha Junction Guesthouse was so kind and compassionate about our situation and was able to book us in their cozy and welcoming Pele room. The King and Queen beds were very comfortable and the two full bathrooms were a nice amenity since we had 3 adults in the room. The cozy fireplace warmed up the room instantly. In the morning we enjoyed the coffee, french toast and granola that was provided. We enjoyed a delicious Thai dinner in town as well. We will definitely be back!

I spent three nights in the Volcano Hale in May, for some hiking and general touristing in the Natl. Park.. I was extremely happy in Volcano Hale! It is a large house, built 1912 and very well kept. There are 5 guest rooms, three full bathrooms, a kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge/freezer and some pots/pants/plates/cups etc. and a very large common area. All is shared (not the rooms of course) and all is very nice and clean. Nicely decorated, too (the piano is only decorative which may be for the better :)). I was in room 311, at the top floor and the view through the windows into the rainforest is spectacular This is all no-contact and it worked well. Instructions were sent in time and easy to follow. Some tips: 1) I came from the Kona coast and was surprised how cool, no, cold it was in the rainforest! I was quite cold the first night. I emailed the owners (management?) the next morning and they told me where to find another blanket, and also how to use the heater in the room. I had seen it but did not want to use it without explicit permission. After that, the next two nights were great. 2) Food: The bad news: Avoid the Kilauea General Store! I paid $10.- for a loaf (16oz) of standard sliced bread, and another $10.- for a small piece (8oz) of Kraft cheese. Either of them would have been $1.50 in a regular supermarket which of course does not exist up there. I noticed that the store does not have any price tags on their merchandise. Now you know why! The good news: Just go Thai all the way! There are 3 Thai places in Volcano Village. One is a sit-down restaurant (Thai Thai) where I got dinner the first night. Excellent food (I lived many years in So Cal and believe that I know a little about Thai restaurants) and a fair price: less than $30.- for a portion that would be enough for two, or in my case for dinner and breakfast the next morning. The other two are food trucks. I went to Tuk Tuk Thai food truck, at the end of Old Volcano Drive, and it was so good I went back the next day (my last). Excellent quality again, very friendly, and about half the price. Didn't have a chance to try the other food truck. I will for sure go back to Volcano Hale the next time I'll be in the area!

Ir al Vulcano Park sugiere vivir cerca de aquí, este hotel está a cinco minutos del Vulcano Park, muy conveniente. El Vulcano Park es demasiado grande y necesita al menos dos días para terminar, así que hemos elegido vivir en el hotel cercano, y podemos tener un parque de vulcanos cuidadosamente. Además, hay un restaurante viejo de cien años, no es bueno, pero el precio es precario.

El desayuno es muy sencillo. La tienda lo pone en un refrigerador sobre la mesa antes del check-in. El entorno que lo rodea es invencible, tranquilo y borracho. Se reserva una habitación doble. Tres personas con niños apenas pueden dormir. La recepcionista salió temprano del trabajo y la tienda se quedó. El sobre está en la pared exterior de la puerta de la oficina de recepción. Después de obtenerla, puede encontrar la habitación y registrarse. La llave de la habitación está en la mesa dentro de la casa. El ambiente aquí es realmente genial, rodeado de árboles altísimos, ¡la experiencia es genial!

We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. It is minutes away from the Volcano National Park and not far from other attractions like Hilo or Papakolea Green Sand Beach. My husband and I stayed in the Ohia Ranch room. The location was quiet and private with lots of animals (goats, sheep, donkey, ducks, hens, etc.). It was fun to sit out on the balcony and watch the animals (or go down and pet them). The king bed was very comfortable and had a heated blanket on it as an option. There are lots of windows for great sunshine. Every morning, Theresa would bring a delicious breakfast to the room per your request/order. There is a table/chairs in the room to eat; plus the balcony has a small table. The breakfast omelets were incredible. Theresa also has many extras in the room like beach towels, robes, slippers, picnic basket, heating rack for towels and drinks. The information book had lots of ideas of where to go along with restaurant suggestions. We found all of them incredible. She also sent detailed instructions to get there. Overall, Theresa was a warm and wonderful host who helped us with any questions and offered great suggestions.

We had a lovely one night stay at the Aloha Crater Lodge in the Orchid Suite. The room is unlike any other we’ve stayed in before - cozy, unique, and charming. Check-in was easy and contactless, and we had a parking space right next to our room. It’s a very rural area but we were able to drive to Thai for dinner about a mile away. We also appreciated the snacks and fruit they left for us! We’d stay here again if we return to Volcano!
