We booked to spend two nights here with friends, from the 18th to the 20th February. It is located in the hills of Chorla 78 kilometres away, roughly a two hour drive through the countryside and villages. Included in the cost was a taxi transfer from Margao to the reserve and a return ride. On arrival at the car park we were transported by Funicular, a wooden platform with glass panels, 150 metres (492 feet) up the mountain to reception. We were walked around the complex, by a very competent Guide, Namdu, who showed  the facilities, which included our adjacent, huts, Randhan Restaurant, swimming and most importantly Cloud 9 Bar. ***** the uneven red brick pathway, there was a cental point were a noticeboard showed the activities for the day. These did include early evening treks to visit a plateau and a sunset trek up Chorla Chat. There was also a pottery class where we went ***** and tried our hand at making a pot. A Mehendi art class was also available We did not make 07.00am waterfall or birdwatching treks. One evening there was a display of Folk Dancing and there was a bonefire on the second evening. These took place before dinner, we did not make either event. There were a number of oddities and features to discover while walking around the compound. This included the Temple of Lord Ganesh, there was also a sugar cane press, guest could purchase the syrup at reception and make your own drink. The were stone pots and wood carvings to been found. There was a small *** made lake with a trickling water fall. It was adjacent to the steps leading up to the pottery area, which once housed a studio, gallery and shop Our accommodation hut/cabin had a ceiling fan, no air conditioning and no safe, tea and coffee making facilities and a jug of filtered water. Our balcony with valley view was a bit precarious with wobbly and loose floorboards. There was a metal pole across the front with some netting acting as safety railings. At the far end of the balcony there was nothing just a sheer drop down. There was a hole in the overhead canopy. We secured our cabin with a padlock and bolt which was opened with the room key. On the first night the four of us managed the two hour plateau trek. Did not see much as a lot of the area had mostly burnt up by a fire. There was no wild life, understandable as result of the fire. It was also very hazy so the views were a bit reduce. The trek was more taxing than we were led to believe. As result, on our return we scurried to the bar and stayed a while. Next day we spent some time around the infinity pool with superb views down the valley, again a bit hazy. Later that afternoon two of us, did the sunset trek, a kilometre up Chorla Chat. The trek commenced by the signpost near the pottery shed. It was a rocky path up to a ridge where we could see into three Indian, States, Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Very hazy no sunset so we made our own way back. It might not have been what we were expecting

Dear Sirs. We are now safely back in Candolim and sitting out on our balcony, which overlooks a paddy field, which as you can see from the enclosed photo, is some distance away, but even from this distance we observe a lot of bird life. There can be as many as 6 buzzards flying over the paddy field hoping for a mouse, also lots of egrets. I've just seen a pair of very large birds (see photo) What I'm trying to say is how disappointed we were to go to a wildlife reserve, for 2 days and see next to no wildlife. We spent a few hours on our balcony looking down the valley, but only saw 3 birds. Unbelievable. I got up early to go on the Bird walk and the first thing the guide said was we don't see many birds because of the trees, but we will hear them. Really disappointed. Also all the paths are very uneven and in places dangerous. We went to the bonfire, which was very good but the walk to get there was unlit and very uneven. A good torch is a must. All in all a very relaxing 2 days, but don't go to see wildlife at least not at this time of the year. Regards

This place is truly amazing. The ambience is very nice and nature friendly. The view from the room was very breath taking we could see the water falls from the room in which we were staying. The food was delicious with authentic taste also the spread of the buffet was quite decent.pool was fantastic. The only one draw back is the rooms need renovation.

we reserved a family cottage for a group of four. Unfortunately, the family cottage rooms were disappointing, lacking proper storage with no cupboards and only one bathroom for two rooms. The beds were also unclean, leading to discomfort and itching during sleep. On a positive note, the food menu was satisfactory and enjoyable. Regarding the resort itself, it was a pleasant experience overall. I recommend booking a Plunge Pool cottage for its cleanliness and excellent view, which is a stark contrast to the family cottage. In summary, our stay at the resort was enjoyable, with the exception of the family cottage room.

1 of the best nature resorts visited so far… Food was simple and traditional. Folk dance and nature trail were the activities. Slope train is the main attraction. Location is just in the centre of dense forest. Must to visit the place either once in lifestyle.

Wildernest is as wonderful & rustic as I’d expected. Nestled in the pristine mountains there’s peace and tranquility here. Best place to detox. No mobiles, no TV. No tea kettle in the room. Excitement starts right from being transported by an open funicular (cable car) steep up the slope into their reception. The staff here is Maharashtrian Konkani or Goan. Polite, cooperative, disciplined and very committed. The resort has a lot of activity - like mehendi, pottery, trekking, bird watching entertainment etc. Our pottery teacher was a smiling, hearing & speech impaired young soul hailing from a village nearby. Speaks volumes about the resort management’s approach. Kudos! The cottages are airy, with a large bed, a hot shower & bowls of fragrant Utane & Shikakai powders. Cottages are distanced, at various levels separated by red stone steps & walkaways. Walking up & down the red stone steps to the cottage was a very good exercise. I could meet my daily targets just by going for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I took this as an opportunity to break the morning tea habit. Treks brought back an active lifestyle. And pottery helped me rekindle that artist in me. The infinity pool is aesthetic & designed for non swimmers. After a hearty swim, it’s time for a healthy breakfast - poha, upma, cornflakes & milk, bournvita, eggs to order, besides sprouted moong. For lunch & dinner gorge on authentic Goan and Kokani (rich Saraswat style) traditional food is laid out in clay pots. Veg and non-veg dishes accompanied by typical sweets like ragi halwa, manganae (मनगणं) & rice (kheers) remind you of grandma’s times. Every evening folk dances performed by perfectly draped, young konkani girls keep you marvelling at their skills of balancing the heavy brass lights (समई) on their heads while dancing. Visiting this resort for a detox every quarter is necessary. I’m planning to take my entire family here in the monsoons. Probably the best time, with mist, waterfalls, fresh greenery. If Wildernest is full, ask them for their very own Swapnagandha resort, half a km away.

The property is amazing, nestled in the mountainous region of the Ghats, pleasing hospitality, peace and tranquillity, great buffet spreads, and awesome natural habitat. Though upkeep of the rooms or villas may be looked at, in spite of the challenges.
