Nam Pien Yorla Pa

This hotel is a pleasant 1 hour and 45 minute drive from Vientiane. The room was comfortable with a lovely view of the forest. The staff were friendly but not many speak English which is totally OK. The resort makes sure it employs local people from the area which I respect whole heartedly. Fortunately there was a lovely and attentive staff member called Bounthone who ensured I got everything I needed and helped me interpret. I left him a tip to show my appreciation. The manager Mr Xay was friendly and willing to assist when needed. When I first arrived it was the last day of Pi Mai ( Laos New Year) so it was extremely busy with guests coming up for day trips. The day after was quiet and peaceful. This time of year is dry season. I was disappointed that there was no water in the river and the waterfall as I was looking forward to a fresh water swim! I recommend a visit in the rainy season! It was a comfortable stay. The food was okay. I will return when there is water in the river.

We pre-paid for this hell hole for three nights and we lasted one, forfeited the next two nights that we’d paid for. The pool was disgusting! They don’t have the filter turned on, so the surface is full of dead bugs and leaves. You would take one look at it and not bother. The only time one of the lazy staff came out to clean it was when a Chinese guest started cleaning it himself! The pool was disgusting! The daytime staff were ok but the nighttime staff couldn’t give two…. about their guests. The food could’ve been worse….somehow. The room was amazing! That’s why I give it two stars. Beautiful room! The activities were rubbish. We weren’t going to be hung up in a tree by non-English speakers with no guidance. Still had to pay full price for the activities that we didn’t do. My wallet got stolen, I emailed them afterwards, no reply! We paid for three nights, cut our losses and left after one!

Good customer service. I can see great effort there, and over time I can see improvements, based from past reviews until now. Give this resort a shot. I think they are probably the best closest to Vientiane, if you're looking for a good nature experience.

We had a great stay at Nam Pien Yorla Pa! The people working at Nam Pien were great and always ready to help. The activities (we did the Canopy Walk and the Ziplining) were amazing and the views are outstanding!! The rooms have everything you need and create a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere.

The villa was clean and comfortable, set in the forest surrounded by nature and wildlife which was incredibly stunning. Nothing will compare to the 180 degree views of the forest from our bathtub! The staff were helpful and friendly especially the receptionist and the waitress. Lots of activities available and we look forward to returning in the future with the kids!
