Hotel Domizil

Personal muy amable y servicial, habitación muy limpia con un baño espacioso. Desayuno con una amplia variedad de alimentos. A pasos de la Catedral de San Esteban, otras atracciones principales y la estación de metro. No se puede pedir más por este precio.

Se sentía un poco viejo, pero estaba limpio. No es una tarjeta llave. Es una pena que hubiera pocas comodidades como peines, pastas de dientes y cepillos de dientes. En el medio del casco antiguo, estaba a menos de un minuto a pie de la Catedral de San Esteban, que era conveniente para caminar por el casco antiguo, y el personal era muy amable.

Our room on the 4th floor was clean and comfortable. It included a sofa and desk and had plenty of space to walk around. There was a large shower area with plenty of hot water and toiletries. Good choice of food items at breakfast. Staff were lovey from the receptionists to the breakfast personnel, they were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from Stephensplatz with its cafes, the Dom and the U-bahn. We found it a very convenient place to stay and would highly recommend.

Perfect location...realky 4min to Stephen plaz. Good service 24×7 reception Clean Wifi Good breakfast Bath utilities as it should be... I would suggedt to change the key to card. 21st century....1 key...little bit problematic........

Excellent, very pleasant and helpful reception staff made us feel welcome. Central location (2 mins walk from Stephansdom) was perfect. Beds comfortable, quiet location, breakfast very good, price of stay very reasonable. When we needed a taxi, the reception arranged for one to arrive within 3 minutes. We would recommend this hotel to others.

Admittedly an old fashion family hotel and nothing high tech there but this is part of the charm of this well maintained place in the very center of the city, just between the Cat station and the cathedral. Good WiFi, ok breakfast and quite reasonable prices. The safes could be upgraded to something post XIX century though! All in all a very nice stay.

I stayed one night only and I am pretty acquainted with Wien - i.e. I actually don't need sightseeing - but I fully enjoyed the hotel's central location, just behind St. Stephen Cathedral and beside Mozart's House where he composed "Le nozze di Figaro". Hotel Domizil is in an amazing historical building and "sprinkles" Viennese charm out of every corner. If you're looking for a modern standardised hotel, Domizil is not for you. If you want to dive into 19th century Vienna, inhale history experience genuine courtesy instead, Hotel Domizil is the perfect choice. My room (#401) was comfy, spacious and tidy with a large en-suite bathroom; beds are comfortable as well. Continental breakfast was really nice and the personnel very friendly. From now on, Hotel Domizil will be "my residence" whenever I come to Vienna.

This was my first time traveling solo and I spent a lot of research time choosing my hotel. I ruled out commercial hotels because I wanted to struggle a bit with language (staff were very patient letting me practice my German)and truly learn a bit of Viennese culture.I truly loved this small hotel. Always staffed, it was nice to be greeted coming and going. I felt all staff were wonderfully kind and I honestly miss them. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Yes, this is an old building so soundproofing is non-existent. During my stay, guests were all extremely quiet people. There is a bit of street noise but this is city center. Breakfast was wonderful and there were so many selections for all tastes. The coffee stations were amazing and there were also juices. If you leave breakfast hungry it is one’s own fault. The hotel is very centrally located and transportation of all sorts is close by. I appreciated being able to walk almost everywhere. If you prefer public transit you can buy your transit pass online before leaving for Vienna. It was so easy. I know there is much debate on the worth of CAT train as the S 7 runs on the same track…I personally chose the CAT as there were no stops, no rough sleepers and staff were present on board for questions. Again, these tickets can be purchased online before leaving on your trip. I enjoyed not having to fumble around at a ticket machine when jet lagged. Yes, all directions for online purchase are in English and German. It was super easy and no looking for scrap pieces of paper tickets.(You will need to produce your pass with matching ID when inspectors are present.) All inspectors have badge ID, proper uniforms and stay in groups together. If you are approached by only one person it may be a scam to see ID and such. As a visitor, all tourist sites were very well monitored by police. If I have the opportunity to visit Vienna again I would love to stay at Hotel Domizil.

Stayed at the charming Hotel Domizil, Vienna for three nights in a single room. You will get that European pension experience here. Still not overly cheap at 143 euros a night. Its central location behind the cathedral is a strong plus. Also the ladies on reception are very pleasant and helpful. I split my stay between this hotel and a high end hotel also in the Innere Stadt. I can honestly say I enjoyed both equally for what they offered. I slept well at hotel domizil. The room is well fitted out with shelves and places to put things. I also enjoyed the bath and bought some lavender bath salts and had a nice bath one night. The only negative is that the room was very warm and the aircon wouldn't cool it down. I discovered the aircon isn't turned on in May. Instead the wall heaters are on, which makes the whole building very warm. I know this for a fact as I travel with a temperature and humidity gauge to monitor the room temperature. I like my room at about 20-21 c when I sleep. It was actually 22-23 c at night in the room. I remedied this by opening the top swing window and even had the balcony door open at night. The room on the 4th floor was very quiet as it faced on to Grunangergasse. Wi-Fi was very good. I had breakfast one day in the dining room. A bit pricey at 22 euros but a decent assortment. The surrounding areas are gorgeous with neighbourhood shops and restaurants. Of course Vienna is full of tourists but this area also seemed to be frequented by locals. There's also a Billa supermarket where I got some salads to eat only, a 6 minute walk away. I liked having a kettle and fridge in the room. I recommend the nearby restaurants Figler muller for Wiener schnitzel and Diglas cafe for morning omelette. Warning: these places are in high demand and you might have to queue or share with others at a table. The hotel is very well located near Wien Mitte station where you can catch the airport cat train or s7 ubahn in depending on your luggage. Then the hotel is a 11-12 minute walk from Wien Mitte station. All in all an authentic stay. I was quickly able to get a sense of Vienna staying so near to the cathedral.
