Hôtel Le Bout du Parc de Versailles

We received a room on the other side of the hotel with a view over a parking in construction (the whole area is in construction), where heavy trucks start in the morning. Breakfast was a joke, nothing for kids or anyone with gluten or lactose intolerance. For 15 Euro (that I paid for in advance), one croissant, some bread, a yogurt and juice. I mentioned it and the staff agrees, the Reception managers answer was, we are trying to give guest a real French experience (everyone has tasted a croissant in their life), with local products. It seemed more like cashing in with the minimal. Very very disappointed. I hired a bike , that was way too small and old, to get to the chateau, it is quite hilly and an electric bike would be better. No explanation about the chateau, that you need to pay to get into the gardens (and thus do not really need a bike), that you can get there buy car, how much is parking, and that you can rent bikes there too if needed (more expensive but less the hassle of riding up and down a hill). When asking if there is a market, they had no idea. The reception seems to think that Versailles is only the castle, however it is a very large town with lovely restaurants and shops. (my mistake of not researching better in advance). I cut my trip short with one night. The good thing about the hotel is that there is a playground in front of the restaurant/ reception, that is great for kids. The main reception is cosy with a lot of games and the staff is friendly and cannot do much about all the complaints that they get. The reception manager did not seem to be too interested in changing things. Too expensive for what it is.

The hotel itself was lovely. However, there are a couple things to be aware of. We made the reservation the day before we got there. We rented a chalet but when we got there it turned out the chalet was not a good fit for our family so they moved us to a superior room with terrace in the hotel. On their website these rooms are less expensive than the chalets. I checked these rooms on the day we made the reservation, the day we arrived and the day we checked out. Every time, the price was lower than the chalet. However, they charged us the chalet price and claimed that on the day we checked in, the superior rooms were more expensive and that rates change. Apparently, their room rates are as volatile as the stock markets and room rates change throughout the day. We also paid €24 extra for breakfast to be included. What did that €24 get us? Coffee, juice, croissants, white bread and plain yogurt. There was not even a hard boiled egg as a protein source. We had to order eggs and that was an additional €18 for two orders of eggs, each oh which consisted of two eggs, a small bit of soft cheese and a few slices of avocado. In the 21 countries I’ve had breakfast in, I thought the U.S. had the worst hotel breakfasts by far. But this hotel set a new low. At least in the U.S. one gets at a hard boiled egg if not scrambled eggs. For a country that arrogantly pounds its chest about their food quality, the food at breakfast was lacking. I probably wouldn’t mind the high prices had the croissants been outstanding or the eggs I ordered mind blowing. But, I’ve had the most delicious croissant in my life at a place called Essence in, of all places, the U.S. (Phoenix, AZ to be exact). I’ve also had the best eggs there as well. I’m not sure how one is to supposed to be excited, or full, on only white bread products for breakfast, especially at the outrageous prices charged for mediocre products. Based on their every pricing model (or scam) and their breakfast prices, I do not recommend this hotel.

Chalet agréable et confortable, dommage car vue sur les grues du chantier qui se trouve à proximité et aucune indication pour trouver l hotel .Il faut revoir absolument la restauration qui est chère pour la prestation et surtout embaucher plus de personnel manque évidant de formation et management. Carfanaum au petit déjeuner le personnel court partout vraiment pas organiser . L assiette Salée à 9 € pour 2 œufs sur le plat avec un petit morceau de bécon plus les 12 € payé à la réservation ce qui ramène mon petit déjeuner à 21 € c'est du vol manifeste. Au dîner 1h15 d attente pour 2 malheureuses pizzas il y à vraiment un problème. Je ne reviendrai pas.
