Hotel de Montaulbain

This was a charming hotel with very friendly and welcoming hosts. They called and made dinner reservations for us, and shared fascinating WWI stories about their family. Clean rooms and a nice breakfast. I highly recommend staying here!!

This was our second time saying at Hotel de Montaulbain and, once again, the owners helped make our experience unforgettable. The hotel was very clean and quiet and we enjoyed eating at three local restaurants recommended by the hotel. They also recommended WWI sites we had not visited before, which were well worth seeing. Definitely recommend staying here during your visit to Verdun!

Our recent stay at Hotel de Montaulbain was exceptional, thanks to the warm hospitality of Fabrice and Victor. They were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our visit. The personal contact with them made our experience even more special. The breakfast was delicious, with good coffee to start the day right. The locally sourced food was a delightful touch. Upon check-in, we were offered the option to add breakfast to our room. We opted for it on one of the mornings, and it was no problem to opt out the second day. Our room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the linens were nice quality, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The shower was fantastic, with great water pressure and a well-sealed design that kept the bathroom floor dry. The WIFI was easy to use and provided good service. There was a booklet in the room with very clear instructions for accessing the WIFI. The location was excellent for exploring Verdun, and we found a nice restaurant just 50 yards away that we enjoyed dining at twice. Several city parking lots were conveniently close by, making it easy to park our car. When a sudden illness required us to stay an extra night, Victor and Fabrice were kind enough to accommodate us and even provided a pot of tea. Communication during the reservation process was excellent, and we appreciated the personal touch of emailing directly with the owners and receiving quick responses. Overall, our stay at Hotel de Montaulbain was made memorable by the exceptional service and personal touch provided by Fabrice and Victor. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Verdun

Nice hotel located near the centre of Verdun, but on a small out of the way road which looks a bit run down. The hotel rooms themselves were very nice, spacious, and with nice decor for a very reasonable price. The owner was very friendly and helpful with tips for the area. Don’t think there is on site parking, but several city parking lots are quite close by. Wifi was quite challenging, there were two options provided, neither of which worked. Neither it seemed were by the hotel One seemed to use a local open network, and the other required a sign in - also seemed opportunistic. There is no direct booking from the website, which seems outdated but a call did secure it. What decreased the experience was the fact that despite advertising room only, and room plus breakfast, we were essentially forced to take the breakfast when we booked. Spoke to someone other than the very kind and friendly person who was there on our arrival, but this was an experience that soured the overall stay.

We read about Hotel de Montaulbain in Rick Steve’s France but were not able to book ahead. We decided to drive into Verdun to check availability and we’re so glad we did! They had a spacious comfortable room available and our hosts, Victor and Fabrice, went out of their way to make our stay in Verdun an enjoyable one. The hotel is charming, spotlessly clean on a quiet street a short walk away from the town center and river promenade. It was one of our favorite stays on our roadtrip through France. The hospitality was excellent. They went far and beyond to make us feel safe and welcome. They even received us with information of local restaurants and site we might be interested in. On arrival they made us reservations to the restaurant we wanted. I highly recommend this hotel.
