Beautiful location and the hotel’s grounds are lovely and spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and the rooms comfortable. We had a Junior suite and would recommend. Thank you to all the staff. Ithaca is a wonderful place and we enjoyed every moment.

The location is perfect. The pool, pool area and reception are immaculate and give a good first impression. However our apartment (bungalow style) was dated and tired, and requires some investment and maintenance. The bathroom was quite cramped and needed a good scrub. There’s also a lack of storage in the bedroom - no chest of drawers or dressing table. Area outside the apartment, although with a lovely sea view, is a bit unkempt. It’s a shame because with a bit of TLC to bring it up to scratch and a bit more thought towards the comfort of guests, it could be superb.

Captain Yiannis is a true gem of a place. The layout and location are the best. The pool and sunbeds were just what we needed after long walks around the island. As a lot of people have already stated, breakfast is nothing to get excited about, except the yogurt - that was deliciously thick and creamy. I would say if booking, ask not to be allocated Studio number 2 for the following reasons: The bedroom is tiny - you have to shut the door to open the wardrobe. If you leave the bedroom door open at night (to have a bit of a breeze), directly opposite is the back door with a window without a blind - and the sun hits it at dawn like a dazzling spotlight on the person sleeping in the bed directly opposite. The little table and chairs outside do not get any sun. There were minor irritations - could do with more drawers for clothes, no hooks for jackets, tea towels etc - had to put our clean towels on the kitchen worktop as there was nowhere to put them in the bedroom or the bathroom, No room or shelf for toiletries in the bathroom. That said, the lounge was a decent size and comfortable. Our neighbours said that their bedroom and bathroom were good sizes. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as overall, it has so much that is excellent - just not the bedroom in Studio 2! Another note - being just slightly outside the main port meant that we didnt have the noise of the boats at night. A gentle breeze causes the boats to rock making loud slopping noises!

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Ithaca at the Captain Yiannis Hotel in Vathy. We had a fabulous time and the hotel was perfect for us. All of the staff were so helpful and the facilities at the hotel were great. A lovely room, simple but adequate breakfast each day by the pool with lovely views of all the boats in the harbour and a short walk from the centre of Vathy which had a great selection of restaurants and shops. Such a peaceful and unspoilt place to visit and our Aegean and Iolian holiday rep. was lovely also. If you have the chance to try somewhere different then we would recommend you go. We will certainly visit again.

We've just returned from a lovely 2 day stay at captain Yiannis accommodation staying in a junior suite. Although basic, it is clean and the bed was super comfy, air conditioning included in the price. What make Captain Yiannis special are the amazing views and the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble. They ordered taxis to and from the port, gave just beach towels to use after check out and let us use the facilities until our taxi arrived in the afternoon. All staff are exceptional. The location is perfect. A beautiful 5 minute walk into Vathy and if you turn right as you leave the hotel, it is a 5 minute walk to the most amazing sea side bar. I am staying here for 2 weeks and am at the end of my 1st week. What an amazing spot. Lovely location on outskirts of Vathy but easy walk into Vathy. Great view of harbour and surrounding hills. Well appointed room, very comfortable and housekeeping come very regularly. Nice pool. Breakfasts are simple but with really nice fresh fruit and yogurt- all I needed. Staff here are great - very welcoming and have been friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Stayed in room 4 would recommend.
