Van Zylsrus Hotel

A stunning little oasis and stop over to the Kgalagadi. Beautifully decorated with local art. Extremely friendly staff and very restful surroundings. Safe secure parking for your overland vehicle with Electricity points. Lovely pub and curio shop.

Vanzylsrus is the ideal place to overnight if you are travelling from Gauteng to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It looks like a one-horse town with the horse having departed a long time ago but appearances can be deceptive. The hotel is odd and quirky with interesting artwork everywhere you look. The food is excellent and I've never had a better lamb shank anywhere. This was the third time I've stayed at the hotel and is a must when travelling to the park. Luddy and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and there's a great bar. Do yourself a favour, soak up the Kalahari and overnight there!

What an exceptional find in the middle of nowhere!! This is like finding an Oasis in the desert. The quirkiness is an art form. You can see the owners Talent, artistic expression and passion in everything. The rooms are eclectic and fun. The bar is just THE BEST. But wow the food!! Sheeps tails and shanks are a must. The staff are just the friendliest warnest people. Cannot recommend highly enough! A proper burst of colour and enthusiasm on a neutral landscape
