Finca Vela Lodge

Location: on Isla Pastores with an easy free boat transfer from Almirante. It’s a quiet island and it feels like a private island retreat Hotel: little houses dotted around the lovely grounds.they are all in different locations so decide where you prefer to stay. They are all beautifully decorated There is a lovely deck where you can snorkel ( gear provided), kayaked, SUPS. Also a nice pool with a view of the sea and jungle Restaurant: lovely breakfast and all other meals need to be taken there. Food is excellent. This is a really lovely place. It’s incredibly relaxing and I really advise a stay here. Our only criticisms are that the Mariposa rooms is not suitable for 2 couples as we thought. Marie found a solution so that’s great. Also we would have appreciated a place to get water and coffee in the morning. Meal times felt slightly regimented. It suits the owners but took away from the relaxed vibe. Everything about our stay here more than met my expectations. From snorkeling right off the dock to the fresh cooked meals using ingredients grown right on the island! The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are clean. We cannot wait to come back.

I cannot recommend this place enough, it’s paradise!! The location and grounds of this property are breathtakingly beautiful! The cabins are simple but clean, comfortable, and very well-appointed with everything you’ll need. The main lodge is charming and beautiful! The website pictures do not begin to do this place justice for how gorgeous it is! We cannot say enough about the wonderful service we received during our five days in February. Christophe and Mary understand the art of hospitality and make you feel welcome and cared for the moment you step off the boat. The food was outstanding!! Truly like a fine dining restaurant. The drinks and wine were also a lovely option every day and evening. Meals were an absolute highlight of our time there. Definitely walk the grounds, the garden and farm are incredibly beautiful and, as we were told, one of the nicest properties in the entire archipelago. We saw so many little frogs and incredible plants on our walks. I hope to come back to Finca Vela with the entire family. This was a perfect couples trip but would also accommodate children and families. I’ve stayed at many luxury hotels around the world and Finca Vela is at the top as far as unique, special properties. It was unforgettable!!

When you imagine paradise, then Finca Vela should be what you have in your mind . We spent 4 fabulous days with hosts Christopher and Marie , and it was an unforgettable visit . The location , the food , the attention to detail combined with expert hosting was way beyond what we had envisaged and made for the perfect holiday. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who is looking for a 5 star island paradise

We spent 5 nights at Finca Vela after three nights at a nearby on-water bungalow for three nights. Marie and Christophe were fantastic hosts. They sent their boat to pick us up at Punta Caracol, we immediately knew it was going to be amazing as it was the most comfortable boat we have been on in the area. The lodge is simply immaculate. The accommodation was beautiful, tastefully designed and functional. The food was amazing, much exceeded our expectations. We have been to Costa Rica many times at various eco lodges and Finca Vela was by far the most luxurious and secluded. The fresh water pool was much appreciated, especially during the heat of the day. We did one day excursion at Starfish beach and visited the birds island. However, we just enjoyed the quiet time at the Finca. There were no more than 4 groups during our entire stay, so never fell busy and always relaxing. We did kayaking, fishing, snorkelling, if you like water without waves, this is the place. There are fish everywhere. Bioluminescent was also a unique experience. We strongly recommend this place for an incredible experience. Definitely a place to come back again! Dennis & Sophie
