Le Cairn

Just back home from a wonderful week away over Christmas staying at this lovely hotel. Simple but charming! Friendly staff who catered for our every need. We had booked a triple room & were upgraded on arrival to a family room with two bedrooms, perfect for our daughter…she was delighted! Lovely continental breakfast each morning from 8am-10am (great for a lie in). The hotel is in an excellent location, so central to absolutely everything. A wonderful stay….definitely recommend to those wanting a relaxed stay in a friendly hotel.

Not quite sure why Le Kern is so highly rated. Plus points are friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness, comfortable beds, warm room, good shower and convenient location just off main drag and 5 mins walk on quiet roads to the lifts. Nice communal lounge. Minus points were tiny room with inadequate storage, the smallest basin I’ve over seen with a shelf right above it making it impossible to wash your face without soaking the floor. Very average breakfast, same every day - I was so sick of it by the end I went out for the last couple of days. The Location of plugs incredibly inconvenient, e.g behind bed. WiFi was a joke - had to tether to mobile. Decor needs a refresh. Very thin walls / floor so when the upstairs room used their toilet it was like they were weeing on your head. Basically it’s a Crystal hotel which I wasn’t aware of when booking so it’s wall to wall English people. Nothing wrong with that, I’m one myself, but I like foreign holidays to feel foreign. This, like most of Val d’Isere, didn’t.

I am currently staying at le keen and felt the need to review (I usually just bother if things are really bad to warn people) but this hotel is really lovely. We were planning to book a different hotel in tignes but it sold out and we were glad in the end. It’s not a modern hotel but is lovely and cosy. All the things that matter they get right. High quality bedding and towels lots of storage and lights, comfy bed, truly excellent customer service and the breakfast, while not having a huge choice, what is there’s is lovely and of a high quality. Good coffee and hot chocolate. Nice little lounge and cute breakfast room. I requested a double room and as they had filled the family room they gave it to us as it was the only one with a double which was a really nice gesture. I emailed about a few things prior to our stay and they replied super quick. Kettle is available on request. Hairdryer in the room. The location is ideal. Just off Main Street super close to everything including the slopes. If I came back to Val d’Isere I wouldn’t book anywhere else.

We had a lovely time at hotel le kern, all the staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful! The rooms were excellent and very cosy. Very close to the ski lifts and village. Would absolutely recommend staying here! The weather was great in Val this week too, so all round we had a fabulous trip!

Cet hôtel est très bien situé, la chambre était propre, l’accueil très convenable et rien à redire pour le petit déjeuner, par contre, j’ai eu l’impression de dormir avec les voisins des chambres à côté ce qui a gâché ma nuit ...

Une super adresse, un hôtel très joli, plein de charme, tout simple et tout en bois , des hôtes hyper accueillants et d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle , et en plus une situation parfaite dans le centre de Val d’Isère . Je quitte l’hôtel aujourd’hui avec regret et j’ai déjà hâte de revenir . Merci à toute l’équipe Pascale Zelia Jose et Maria Beatrice
