Uplawmoor

Been going to the Uplawmoor hotel for meals for over 40 years. Unfortunately it's not the place it was. Was always a good meal but standards have dropped dramatically will not be back unless it gets new owners and gets the food back up to acceptable standards

Had booked ahead of time for my husbands 40th birthday for a close family meal for 4 of us. It was a Tuesday, and a lot of other restaurants appeared to be closed on this day (The Blair, Romeo&Juliets). Advised on the online booking form that it was a special occasion. Has a car park on site. When arriving we didn't know where to enter and so entered from the side and found the bar to advise them we had arrived for our reservation (2 adults, 16yo and 7 yo). We were then told we were at a table right next to the bar! I assumed (obviously wrongly) that there was a restaurant, not that I had booked a bar meal.) We were sat at a table too low for the seats. A bar table, not a dinner table. We had brought a cake but no one offered to take it so we sat it beside us. The place was quite bust (the bar) and there were no alternative tables. Limited menu. I didn't finish my meal and believe it was removed from the bill. Dogs are also allowed in the bar so if like me, you are highly allergic then this makes for a miserable experience. We didn't stay for desert and left pretty unhappy that we had chosen his venue for a special meal.

Food description on menu didn’t match what came on the plate . Found out once waitress asked chefs why it had been a busy day and ran out of stuff. I ordered Thai beef mango and roasted nuts salad what came was lettuce with cremated beef strips on top . The last two visits I’ve been have both been disappointing and there will not be a third unless they get a chef in who can cook. Manager did give us a discount on the bill and rightly so due to half the ingredients missing from the meals we had .

Helpful, friendly staff. Rooms a bit on the small side, and decor is a bit tired - the whole place could do with a refurb. However, the place was let down by the 'Scottish breakfast' - just about inedible. The cook did his best, but the ingredients were clearly the cheapest available from the 'ultra-processed' aisle in the cash and carry!

Uplawmoor hotel gave us an enjoyable afternoon . . From telephoning to book a last minute lunch on a bank holiday we experienced staff and establishement that were more than happy to accommodate us. . On arrival and throughout we found staff to be very welcoming friendly and attentive . The food was excellent,and could not fault anything .-will defo be back !

We didn't stay at the Hotel, but had a meal there for my birthday. The food was delicious, and there are loads of choices on the menu. The service was fantastic and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We are hoping to visit again in the summer.
