When I was very young, the Mountain View Inn was where the rich folk from Pittsburgh stayed when visiting the Laurel Highlands. Times have changed; after a fire and having part of the building torn down, this place was in bad shape. But the new owners have done a nice job of renovation -- and the rooms still are really large by current standards. No, it's not quite back to the glory of the old days -- but neither are the prices. Comfortable bed, good plumbing, good WiFi, and friendly staff. Breakfast was limited but mostly fresh items (including yummy locally-sourced muffins). The evening of our stay, someone in a room above ours let a tub overflow, which sent water dripping into our entryway (*NOT* the hotels fault). The staff promptly switched us to a downright gigantic room, also very comfortable. Finally, the Inn is dog-friendly. We got our dog-petting fix in the hallway near the elevator with the cutest little dogs, and were entertained by energetic dogs racing around the enclosed dog run area. But there were no signs of dog habitation in either of our rooms, so no worries on that front.
