Beachside Colony Resort

We had an awful plumbing disaster, and all the property manager was concerned about was paying the plumber overtime…..she offered to put us somewhere else, but that would have meant packing, unpacking, and packing again in less than a week….we were there January and February, opted to just leave early. No reimbursement for our time, and the manager ignored my message to her. We’ve been going to Tybee for 15 years and this was an awful experience!

Do not under any circumstances rent unit 321....we were there for January and February 2025, our 15th year on Tybee Island, and decided to upgrade our stay to an oceanfront unit....the rental agent was difficult to reach, even though we had rented through her before, and we were very willing to send our deposit to the owner well ahead of time. The price was high, but we were willing to pay it to be on the beach (I have since learned that for off season and long term we ended up paying around $1500 more than we should have). All that being said, in mid-February our kitchen sink backed up, as well as the dishwasher. I notified the manager at once, after my husband tried to solve the problem by resetting the garbage disposal (he's a retired contractor), and she did send a plumber right away. No luck...he returned the next day, said he had located the clog in the unit below us, and said we were good to go. We weren't. I again texted the manager, who said that she wouldn't pay "overtime" for the plumber and railed about the cost of the repair. She offered to move us to another building for the time we had left....by that time I was done. It would have meant packing up, unpacking again, and at our stage of life it was far more than we were willing to do. We left early, after a stint with paper plates, washing pots and pans in the bathroom, which had been slow to drain from the get-go, and a promise from the manager for a small reimbursement for the time we couldn't be there. The stench was almost unbearable, and we endured days of black standing water in the kitchen sink and leaking under the sink. I messaged the manager a week ago, and she has ignored me. I have no choice but to post this review in the hopes that the owner acts appropriately. (By the way, the unit was less than spotless, when we arrived, including a dead palmetto bug in the dust behind the living room credenza.....and there was no vacuum cleaner or mop for me to use...not at all the "luxury accommodations" I had willingly paid for).)

The condos are very nice and very worth the money to stay there. I did, however have a run-in with the owner's son and will not recommend staying here due to his inability to understand how to talk and interact with people. He was a rude, snotty individual who should seriously consider long-term psychiatric help and should not be in any position dealing with people. Be aware that there are additional fees for cleaning not stated on web-sites and also note that the best rates are for walk-ins seeking a last minute condo.

Unit not clean to high standard. Bare bones …1/2 roll of Paper Towels. TP cheap. No extra trash bags. No blender. No Kurig. No condiments or spices of any kind. No extra linen. Very small washer/dryer combo. No place to hang wet towels or bath mat. Minimal amount of pots and pans and wine glasses…2 for a unit that could sleep 6/8 people. Not up to Airbnb standards.

First I’d like to start off by saying that not allowing google reviews is just a shady as this building. The pool was nice, the restaurant had good food and the condo was a decent size, but that’s where it ends. We found a nyc sized dead RAT on our back porch on the first day. They gave us a gift card for it but took to long to come we had to roll it off the porch. It had been dead for a while. The pocket door was broke and my 1 year old son got his head stuck in It when it slammed shut. The exit sign was hanging from a wire. The fence out back was broke and just laying there along with years of cigarette butts and beer cans. We paid over $5600 for condo 411 and I’ve never been this disappointed in my life. The inside was also extremely dirty and old hair clumps all over the tub. Dishwasher didn’t work, 2 TVs didn’t work and had to be replaced the second day. The balcony was literally falling apart. Stay away. Go somewhere else. Save your money.

Overall good. We arrived early and they did their best to get us in asap. After paying a $175 cleaning fee, we found an envelope on the counter to tip the cleaning lady. Similar to what you would expect to find in a hotel. I thought that was tacky.
