Hotel Punta Tipa

As a very frequent traveller all over the world, let me tell you, I will never stay here again, and would recommend you run as far away as possible from this hotel!! We walked into our room to find ants all over the sink, bugs on the wall and flying around, air conditioning not working in 30 degree weather, and the bathroom roof moulded from the shower above. There is a whole in the roof which was leaking. Upon letting the staff know and asking for a new room, it was met with the staff being rude and being aggressive towards us. They came up with excuse after excuse and were very unhelpful. In addition, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and emailed them with my complaints in the hope it could be fixed and allow the rest of our stay to be pleasant. Well… I was wrong. Unfortunately, their email was unapologetic. Simply rude. They took no responsibility in terms of the room issues or their staff member being rude. They didn’t even acknowledge their staff member or the bathroom roof leak. And at the end of their email, they said they would offer us a change of room but as we weren’t at the hotel in the very moment that suited them, we were no longer willing to take that option. They didn’t contact me, or try and offer me the room change they just took it upon them selves to say it was not possible. I would not be recommending this hotel to a single person, and suggest you look at any other accomodation in Trapani besides Hotel Punta Tipa.

Perched along the coast out of the main town, the hotel has an unprepossessing exterior but a quirky and welcoming interior dominated by giant bookcases which act as space dividers. The atmosphere is relaxed. The delightful terrace and dining room overlook the sea which is a matter of feet away. The decking seemed limited but it also looked as if they plan to extend it. Entering the sea at that point is tricky due to rocks and major indents (as we were told by a wild swimmer in our party) so it could do with facilitating easier access to the sea via decking extending outwards. Further aeround the bay and also towards Trapani the beach is sand. The pool is clean, well tended and lovely. Our room was neat and clean but with limited clothes storage (only one of us could unpack) although perfectly manageable for a three night stay. A few drawers might be a thought for longer stay guests. Our view from the room was of the main road and the back of some local houses but other rooms did have far more attractive views with several at ground floor level overlooking the sea. We ate at the hotel on two nights. The food choice was wide and the food delicious. Two courses and a shared tiramasu with two drinks and water came to around €90. The walk along the bay to the town of Trapani is about 20 minutes - but a shuttle bus starts up in June. All the staff were helpful and welcoming.

This hotel is located in the middle of two beaches with nothing around it. 15 min car ride to get to old town Trapani. There are 5 people working in the whole hotel, barely any English is spoken. We had two Rooms on the first floor and both rooms had ant infestation. No manager to speak to after two days of inquiring, they brought ant traps to the room and fumigated the room with  chemicals while we were inside. No one offered us a new room, any upgrade or compensation. I spoke to the receptionist and she spoke to the manager and he offered me a cocktail which I declined, rooms are tiny and you can hear conversation from outside. ( no privacy) I have never encountered such poor customer service in a hotel. No security at the hotel random people walking in and around the beach hotel. I did not feel safe. We got pool towels 1 day out of 3 and the other days they said they are not available  Never been through such chaos and poor management in my life. From the outside it looks nice but beware!!! Lovely hotel clean I paid for a balcony over sea on second floor it was great with sun loungers. Room only for one person really as tight getting round end of bed. 210 I think Good food Breakfast and evening meal. Staff. Reception staff and waitresses very good. Always smiling especially the waitresses. A lift to rooms did not use pool great area outside dining room to watch the sun go down on the beach front. Lots of chairs tables for you to eat outside if not windy. Expensive drinks. Only one complaint. THE barman waiter was awful no smile. Could not be bothered to tell me about the wine list got our order wrong as he just did not care It did have an affect on my holiday as you don’t want this sort of behaviour when you are away. If he does not like people then don’t do the job this was not personal to me everyone in our group felt the same For me too far away from Trapani 30 mins walk to get there. I have had surgery so might be fine for others.

Relaxing break at this hotel with my sister. Had a fantastic room with a terrace overlooking the sea to the west, fantastic sunset views from there and the terrace bar. The hotel was really clean and I loved the decoration in the public areas. Food was great and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We went to sleep every night listening to the sound of the waves.

We arrived at this hotel after driving from Cosenza 8 hours. Both my husband and I had colds. We also made this reservation 8 months ago. The young attendant at the check in counter wanted us to sign a bar stipend and write our visa number down. I refused to do that and she gave me a roll of her eyes and was indignant as if I had insulted her! She then proceeded to want to give us "information" about the hotel--insensitive to the weary, sick travellers in front of her. I said "no" and she took offense again and gave me one of those indignant shrugs of her shoulders and roll of her eyes as if I had just insulted her yet again. She then put us up in a lower level floor which we weren't happy about. We stayed in the lower level floor for one night. We were not happy about this and asked to stay in a higher level floor for all the other nights. The next morning two tired, weary travellers had to move all our stuff to a higher level floor. We had made this reservation 8 months ago. No consideration for that fact. Because we decided to stay in Trapani for an extra week and changed our plans of going to Pantelleria--due to our colds, we asked to stay in the same room at this hotel for the rest of the two weeks. At first they wouldn't let us stay in the same room. After much talking to the Director and the check in staff, which took a lot out of us as we both had colds still, they let us stay in the same room. The disrespect of their young staff, when we first arrived toward seniors and for putting us on the first floor instead of the higher floors, I asked for a discount on our hotel bill which they refused to do. The staff a this hotel is not accommodating, moreover they are rude, entitled, and treat foreigners with disdain.
