Sugar Mill Hotel

What an amazing week at Sugar Mill Hotel on Tortola island! Our room was very clean and plenty big for the two of us. We had a spacious private patio with chairs and loungers that included an ocean view. The managers Rupert and Andrea are awesome! They are happy to answer questions and do all they can to make your stay even better. We decided to take the ferry to Virgin Gorda and Andrea booked us a taxi and walked us through the ferry details. We did the all inclusive plan, which I highly recommend, that included all meals, drinks and two excursions. Food was over-the-top delicious! The island tour with Rupert was the best way to visit secluded beaches, enjoy a champagne lunch, plus tour a rum distillery. The snorkeling boat tour was very fun and a great way to enjoy the Caribbean water and colorful fish! We enjoyed our whole trip and felt super welcome by the staff!

We just spent a week at the Sugar Mill, and it was outstanding. It’s a small, cozy hotel with fantastic staff. If you’re into the large glitzy resorts, look elsewhere. The personal touch (you get to know the staff and managers very quickly) and attention to details is something you just can’t beat. The food is outstanding - we’re honestly still baffled by how they can provide such a varied and delicious menu in such a small place on a small island. Sugar Mill is a gem and we loved it!

We had a wonderful week at Sugar Mill. All the prior reviews are spot on. Yes, you need water shoes for the beach. Yes, the food is fantastic. Yes, you want to take the island tour. We did the all inclusive plan and were happy with everything. Beyond the included actives, we spent a day on Jost @ soggy and Hendo's . a great day. Cabs are really expensive and roads can be dicey. I'd be happy to recommend Sugar Mill to my friends.

Yes, the views are still incredible but the lack of attention to details was surprising. Excited to have an Anniversary dinner, we were left disappointed on most everything. Most guests were offered seating, we were not and tossed to the side. Our server was sweet but not well trained, as our dinner took a long time to arrive and she never came to check on us. One meal was ok while the other was barely warm and dry(not eaten) never questioned if there was an issue. Management was more content on his computer than mingling with guests. Sorry to say I will pass this restaurant on the next trip as there are friendlier places with exceptional food on island.

We stayed for a week and had a great time. The facilities are excellent… Clean and convenient, but the staff is what makes it the best hotel in Tortola. Everyone is friendly and eager to help, from housekeeping to the general manager. The hotel is small enough that you will interact with everyone, including the general manager. The hotels location helps keep things quiet. there is enough to do close by (secluded beaches, surfing), and with a car rental you can reach everything on the island within 45 minutes. We can’t recommend the Sugar Mill enough.

Exceptional! The hotel is made of several buildings among beautifully maintained gardens with flowers and fruit trees. Yes all rooms have an ocean view. There are stairs and small inclines going to the rooms, but nothing strenuous or uncomfortable. It is quiet and secluded, but 10 minutes from the West End ferry terminal and 30 minutes from Road town. If you are looking for a bustling, loud place with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance, this is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a peaceful and elegant place to stay this hotel is a must. There is a decent size beautiful pool with a bar stocked with beer, soft drinks etc that you serve yourself on an honor system. There is a small private beach with comfortable loungers and the Tremonti restaurant and bar, their casual restaurant and bar, on the beach. If you want a larger beach, Long bay is about 1 mile and Smuggler's cove less than 2 miles away. Both beautiful. The restaurant is superb. We stayed 5 nights and did not feel the need to go anywhere else for dinner. The breakfast is made to order, not the usual buffet with runny eggs, etc sitting in warming trays for hours. The staff is polite, friendly and attentive. Andrea and Rupert, the managers, are excellent hosts and around and available for personalized service. I cannot say enough good things about their customer service. The first night we got there we had an issue. The next day, the way that it was resolved was above and beyond any expectations we had. When in Tortola again we will certainly stay at the Sugar Mill.
