TLH Victoria Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

First time to the victoria, I have been to the carlton quite a few times. I think the victoria is very nice . Liked that you did not have book a time slot for dinner. Food was brilliant, my compliments to the chefs. Black forest gateau was divine. Staff excellent. As part of a dance weekend I think it was great value for money.i think the single room i had was fine for a couple of nights . I sleep anywhere so It did not bother me . But mattress need changing in 303 very lumpy. So think some people would not like. But very clean. Great shower plenty of hot water. Hopefully come again. If trains start behaving ( cancelled again on way back. )

My booking was on a room only basis and I did ask for a double room near a lift. The room was near the lift on the first floor. However it was not worth £108 per night. On the first morning we were woken up by the dustman right out side the window emptying the bins. Then 15 minutes later another one arrived. The view from our window was awful. I asked to move but the hotel was full up. There was an apartment available however it was too far for my wife to walk as she uses a stick. The room was very hot. It had one small chair in it apart from the bed.

TLH is located in a fantastic location, just a short walk away from the seafront. ROOM Our room, 304, was very spacious and kept immaculately clean by our cleaner, Lucy Ann. The room was baking hot, despite the windows being open… this is unusual for the Victoria hotel. The beds were comfortable, a good nights sleep. The bathroom was very clean but toilet was leaking at the bottom (2nd time this has happened at the Victoria). Would preferred higher quality hand soap rather than bars of soap. Shower gel was provided but wasn’t a known brand; not the high quality I know TLH provides. Maybe a bathroom refit could be a refurbishment before all the rooms are done? I know budgets are tight but the bathroom was in need of some TLC. FACILITIES Outstanding Aztec facilities can be found on site. The pool, indoor and out, are brilliant. The spa is amazing. The arcade also provides entertainment for the younger children. The entertainment team’s vocalist, Matt, is amazing, Frank Sinatra tribute wasn’t as brilliant but everyone has their own taste. There is also Bingo and Toby Club for the children every night. Parking is free for hotel guests who book direct (this is fab as many hotel don’t offer this). I’ve certainly noticed the car park is much emptier since they created these charges; deterring non hotel guests from parking. FOOD Service in the restaurant was rather slow, particularly on the 1st evening meal. Not only is this because there are far less staff in the restaurant (than previous years), but is because many staff just stand around, taking or doing nothing. We had to walk up to a waitress to ask for dinner roles and cleared away our own plates as they had stood in our table for 10 minutes. Service from the staff in the Windsor bar (serving drinks) was better. On the first night, the main option was a turkey dinners but the only vegetables were sprouts and cauliflower cheese! These aren’t popular vegetables at all (no carrots, peas, sweetcorn (which could be easily boiled from frozen!), broccoli, green beans). Us, and many other customers had bland plates with just meat and potatoes. Furthermore, by the time (at about 1945) we came onto our deserts there was only ice cream (or a Black Forest gateaux which had been found in the back of kitchen) none of the options that were on the menu. This wasn’t good enough nor the high standard the food, normally, is. The 2nd dinner was better with more options and better food and service, a lovely lasagne. Breakfast was to a good standard but the waitress’ asking if we want anything off the menu could be quicker. The cooked breakfast was too a tremendously high standard. Just delicious. A greater continental offering would be beneficial. Maybe potted flavoured yoghurts rather than the huge bowl of natural yoghurt, more pastries (other than croissants), pancakes, muffins, fruits or cold meats? Overall, a wonderful stay - already looking forward to next year!

my wife and i have just returned from a 5 day break we have been there a few times and always had a great time food great room great and staff cannot do enough for guest having a disability they made us feel special always offering to help me and a special thanks to maxine from victoria hotel and tina from derwent hope to see you again soon well done cauline and ken room 15 victoria hotel

Very old fashioned and tired looking . Bathrooms looked like they were from the 1970s ! No air conditioning and extremely hot everywhere. Disability access was very poor , only one lift to the bedrooms . Had to go to the hotel next door to access the entertainment areas as there were too many stairs in our hotel

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of years ago my stay was OK, the food being the best part of this hotel. On this occasion, we stayed as a coach party with Ogdens Coaches. Check in was OK and soon we were in Room 127 via the most creaking floors I have ever heard. Very tiny room with an even tinyer bathroom and toilet. The seperate toilet was so narrow you could just about sit on the toilet although your knees were against the walls.Meal was OK, on arrival night. I a had single bed my wife had a double one. My wife's was appalling with the mattress springs sticking in her, she had little of no sleep that night. On complaining early next morning, she was told a "topper" would be put on the said bed. On returning to the room later that afternoon a thin topper was on the bed. She had to fold the topper length ways to get any comfort from it. I am surprised a big hotel like the Victoria couldn't find a replacement mattress a very sad state of affairs. I pityed the next person to follow us in room 127 bet the same situation prevailed. I am afraid I therefore can't recommend this hotel.

At TLH leisure resort, Id like to say thank-you for the holiday. I said it was a better place to come. The cooked breakfast was delicious, the staff were great and the entertainment was brilliant. I bought myself 11 new records and would like to come again soon. from George

There’s no doubt that the hotel is more than tired and needs a lot of money spent on it. I doubt that will happen as the amount needed would take an age to recoup. It’s very old style, uneven floors, lots of stairs, 1 small lift, and rooms with draughty windows and no heating but there’s also lots of good. The staff were quick to provide a radiator when we had no heat. The view of the sea from our room was amazing. The room was well cleaned. The bed and pillows were surprisingly very comfortable… looks can be deceiving, but the food was another level and pretty amazing. So much choice, home cooked fresh options every evening. The special porridge at breakfast is an absolute must and worthy of 5 star hotels. The antipasti starter at dinner was incredible. The chefs serving the hot food were friendly and helpful, offering portions to try and to come back for more if you liked it or something different if not. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. I don’t know who your chef is but hold on to them !! 10/10 for food. Overall a memorable and decent stay.

just came back from a midweek break and we must say it was a delight food always hot and plentyful staff are great a credit to the hotel i have disabilitys and had room 15 a lovely big room so i could get my fold up mobility scooter in the room well done to all the staff not forgetting maxine manager could not wish for better treatment in every way thank you all
