Livermead Cliff Hotel

Excellent 90th birthday celebration for twelve in the Oceanic Restaurant for Sunday lunch. The location food and staff were wonderful at this lovely hotel which offers a calm atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Definitely will be revisiting.

We had our wedding day at the livermead cliff Saturday just gone. Me and my husband can honestly say we had the BEST DAY. We would recommend this venue to anyone who needed a venue for a function. Charles the hotel manager won us over from the first visit. He’s professional, but down to earth. He knows everything there is to know about weddings and how to run a successful event. He put our minds at ease, and without him we definitely couldn’t have pulled off such an amazing, and successful wedding day. He was there throughout the whole day making sure things went to plan and ran smoothly (meaning I didn’t have to worry at all). All the staff were so attentive, and worked so hard to give us the most perfect day. We couldn’t thank everyone enough. All our guests said how amazing the food was. We had a 3 course meal and it all came out very prompt and tasted delicious. Thank you everyone at the livermead cliff for making our day so special.

Unfortunately standard room was not up to standard. Very tired looking. No valance on the bottom of the bed and showing divan with just a mattress. Carpet was shabby, lampshades old and tatty and even had holes. Dust around mirror and furniture and very old. Cobwebs on ceiling by window. Bathroom clean but very small. Shower curtain drapes in the bath and you end up stepping on a wet curtain. I feel no care has been taken and I have stayed in much better hotels for £129 a night. On the plus side the reception and bar staff were lovely and the food was good and there was a good selection of cooked and buffet breakfast. The location of being by the sea is lovely. I don't think I would return unless the rooms were upgraded.

Travelling as part of a group, Our room was large with an excellent view accross the bay towards the harbour, much better than we expect on this type of holiday. On the other hand the food was about what we have come to expect although there was plenty of choice and the breakfasts could not be faulted. Situated a little way out from the centre of activities but a good bus service to and from the harbour. A pleasant and lively bar, I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again nor in recommending it to others.

From our very first meeting with Kerry, we could tell that the Livermead Cliff hotel was on another level to all of the other hotels we had considered on our wedding planning journey. The hotel ticked every box for us – not only is it an excellent location with such stunning views of Torquay (perfect for wedding photography!), but also the function room is a fantastic size and very modern. This altogether allowed a perfect amount of flexibility for our big Greek wedding of around 180 guests. Charles, Kerry, Anthony, head chef Darius and all members of staff at the hotel worked so hard from start to finish. Charles and Kerry answered all of the questions we had along the way and also helped provide us a bespoke wedding menu of Greek food which chef Darius honestly got down to t! The wine provided was also so lovely – you can tell Anthony has great taste and only provides the best quality. The hotel worked so well with all companies involved in the organising of our wedding, and our photos speak for themselves, showing just how stunning the function room looked and how well the room was set up to accommodate all our guests, as well as our eccentric entertainment and high energy Greek dancing. Charles is just such a personable guy and remembering back to how he waited for us at the front of the hotel with our glasses of prosecco on our arrival is such a lovely memory to have and showed us how much care he had put into our wedding. We knew that we were in safe hands with Charles and Kerry – the success of our day speaks volumes about their expertise in organising large events. Even months on family and friends haven’t stopped telling us how amazing the venue was, how much they all loved the food and overall just how well that it was organised. Livermead Cliff, we can’t thank you enough for giving us the most amazing and unforgettable wedding day!

If it hadn't been for the celebration of life I would not have stayed, the room was a box room the pillows were very hard and flat, the carpet was filthy and ridged, the bathroom had one white tile stuck on which it looks like the tile had been broken and the white one was all they could find. The trim on the bath was dirty and could have done with been changed. The window in the room was filthy. I know I only paid £80 but to be honest I wish I had slept outside.
