Chelston Dene Holiday Apartments

Great location. Train station on your doorstep which was handy. Plenty of places to visit. A few basic replacements in the apartment would go a long way ie chopping board needs replacing, only 1 cereal bowl, bedside lamp shades could do with replacement.

Set in an elegant, though hilly, area of Torquay, the garden is secluded, and alive with bird song. It is just 5 minutes uphill walk rom the railway station, and 7 minutes walk from the bus routes and sea front. Buses are numerous and frequent. Steve, the owner, agreed to allow us to park there from about 11:30 on the day of arrival, and in fact "booked us in" at that time too. He is a very friendly chap. The apartment has a spacious lounge area, with a king-size double bed and large-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. The kitchen/dining area is cramped with limited working surface for the cook. It is a well equipped kitchen, with a good cooker, microwave, and fridge, and there is a good set of pans. It lacked only kitchen scissors and a really sharp knife, and the lower shelf on the fridge door is broken, making storage of wine bottles difficult.. The washroom is very small, the shower enclosure equally small, and the wash basin is minute, but the shower worked well. On arrival, the apartment was spotlessly clean, and we left it that way. Steve was quite relaxed about our accidental breakage of a wine glass. We were very satisfied with our visit.

Booked a last minute weekend here with my husband and our dogs. We were welcomed by the lovely owner who provided us with information and out mr keys. We stayed in a garden apartment on the ground floor. The apartment is clean and welcoming with milk and tea and coffee provided which was much appreciated after our three hour journey. The bed is comfortable and the apartment has everything you’d need for a home away from home get away. My only negative comments are the shower is quite a squeeze to get in being pregnant it wasn’t very accessible and the guests above were quite noisy and heavy footed through out the night but it wouldn’t stop us staying again. A nice little base to visit Torquay and surround seaside towns. Thank you for having us.

Its a bit unfair to mark it down but in the interest of honesty ive had to give a fair review. firstly the place is lovely and the owners are very friendly it was sadly the clientele that was our let down the people in the next room to us had 2 yapping dogs and liked a bit of an amateur DIY by the sounds of the tapping and banging at late hours of a night and early morning sounded like they where fitting skirting boards or knocking a few wardrobes together either way sleep was impossible so we left early just to make things better as we left to be snarled and barked at by there yapping dogs as they left there room. so all in all nice place no sleep and a very tired drive home

We had apartment 2 it was very clean and roomy.the patio doors led straight into a lovely garden,with good quality garden furniture.it is in a great location quiet but within easy reach of all amenities. We had a warm welcome and a nice little welcome pack of essentials.it was perfect for my wife and me and our dog

Just returned home after a 2 night break away The location was good for us as it was im q quiet location and just a short walk down the hill to the sea front The apartment was clean and tidy. We stayed in apartment 9 which was on the second floor. There was a small single bedroom and a double foldaway bed in the kitchen/lounge/dining area. We had sea views and the apartment was very light The downside was 1. The bathroom was very small. My touring caravan has more room. If you are large or tall you would struggle to use 2. Although we were aware we had to bring towels, we thought a small hand towel would be supplied in toilet 3. The building smells very musky (on return home, although not worn, our clothes needed washing to get rid of the musky smell. Overall we had a nice relaxing weekend. Woukd we return to Newquay .... yes Woukd we stay in these apartments again .... no
