This hotel has disastrous customer service and staff who don't care about guest satisfaction. Upon arrival, I was given a room with someone already in the bed, sleeping. After the surprise, I went to the lobby to get a different room and took my cart back to a room, and the card wasn’t even activated. At checkout, not only was I not compensated for the error that would have gotten me killed in some areas of the United States, but I was also charged an additional $14 that wasn't itemized on the receipt. When discussing my concerns with the manager, she stated that I should have made a bigger deal about their error on my check in. Keep in mind, I was driving across the country and was checking in at midnight. This hotel's rooms did not smell like they had been through deep cleaning in quite some time. The beds were comfortable though. The included breakfast wasn't very good - only chocolate muffins, plain bagels, and the waffle maker. I don't believe any characteristics about this hotel outweighs the safety concern I have with walking into an occupied room in Tomah, Wisconsin at midnight. Especially with no acknowledgment from the hotel except “sorry, I wonder who is in there?” and “you should have made a bigger deal about it.”
