We stayed two nights at the Tobermory hotel as part of a West coast Seafood trip. The hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were well maintained and cleaned thoroughly. The view from our room was very poor and we looked out on to what seemed to be the staff accommodation and some trees. I can only imagine that the front harbour rooms would have been a fantastic view. We were only offered 2 single beds when we booked in and no doubles were available. we were offered a bigger room but at an additional cost. The rooms are expensive enough already so declined the offer. Staff were friendly and big thanks go to the very happy bubbly Molly who took good care of us during our stay. I`ll just say this - Every business should have a Molly. She was a joy to talk to , and an absolute asset to any business anywhere. Thanks Molly , you`re a star. The food at the bar/ restaurant was decent enough but pretty expensive for what we got. The Mussel pot (£18) - plenty of mussels but the stock/ liquor was awful. It takes absolutely nothing to throw a decent wine , double cream and a handful of chopped parsley in. The red curry mussels were even worse.....Zero Thai flavours. Lemon grass , lime leaves , chilli , red curry paste , lime juice and coconut cream and the transformation would be dramatic. Langoustines (£28) - very poor , mushy flesh , all different sizes and just didnt taste good and fresh....poor effort. Scallops - (£28) for 6 medium scallops , not good value at all. Corals removed and chips charged as an extra.
