The Ram at Tivetshall

Lovely place, pleasant staff and atmosphere, but very disappointing meal-amongst other things - avoid the scampi-absolute rubbish-at ridiculous price......after many years of enjoying and recommending this place-we won't be going back.

A very Beige roast and simply unacceptably slow service. Booked table. Arrived on time. Seated. Simply not enough staff. Food arrived 55 mins after sitting down. Beige. Many items lukewarm. Pork slippery. Gravy tasted like coal tar soap. Cauliflower cheese sent back - cream / cheese was off. Then we were billed with three drinks we didn’t order. The kind Waitress who was trying to be on top of everything was very apologetic. She just knew that it was just not good enough - particularly at similar prices to much better places, in better places. By the way, the roast beef looked tempting on the menu but we couldn’t have it. By 2pm they had run out. One star for providing an overflow car park.

Tuesday 21st November. Lovely lunch with friends , best gluten free fish n chips I’ve had in a long time. Good selection of gluten free food. Staff very efficient, more staff needed Waitress were rushed off their feet

We arrived Sunday afternoon and had previously booked a table for Sunday lunch , just as well for the restaurant was very busy .Lovely roast lunch with generous portions and very friendly service . Had the full English for breakfast and have to say it was one of the best breakfast I have had in a long while . My wife and I both agreed what a super breakfast we had , every item tasty and perfectly cooked . We booked a table for dinner and I had the pork belly and my wife had the lamb . Enough to say it was perfectly cooked and delicious and we sent our compliments to the Cheff . Our room was at the back overlooking the garden . It was a good size room offering good amenities, tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, good size tv , wi fi and a hair dryer . It was a particularly warm night and to our delight found a 12” desk fan to keep us cool . We had one small issue with our room and it was swiftly handled by Victoria and her team , well done all . To sum up we had a lovely stay with excellent food and very friendly staff . A big thanks to all the staff for making this a delightful stay . Needless to say we will be returning again soon .

A building with a lot of character. Pleasant and helpful staff. Delicious food attractively served and plenty of it. as well. Great setting for special occasions and obviously providing accommodation too.

I visited the old ram quite recently, me and a friend went there for food and waited over 10 minutes to be seen as the waitress was chatting to another waitress, only until someone behind the bar mentioned that there are people waiting, she spoke to us for a while and then asked what we wanted which I said “food and drinks” then we went to our own table which had no menus on, and picked our food, the menu has no change in it at all which I assumed it had, only thing was new was the pasta which I had, it had chicken and choritzo, the chicken pieces where the same size of my hand, and there was hardly any choritzo, my friend also had a burger and the chips where undercooked and white, the waitress kept hovering over us constantly like a fly buzzing around, the pasta costed £14 definitely not worth it, then we both agreed to go to McDonald’s to treat us to a proper dessert costing a decent £1, will definitely not be coming back here again!!!
