1511 Coconut Grove

We recently stayed here for five nights. The garden is very beautiful and the food at the restaurant was good. In the photos it looks like the perfect picture. Unfortunately it wasn't. We spent the night in rooms 113 and 114. There you face the storage area, but we didn't think that was an issue. However, on the other side of the fence there is a generator running day and night. That sounds like a truck idling. And around 10:30 PM he makes even more noise. We could not enjoy the balcony because of the noise. Because we were traveling with small children, we couldn't leave the house at night, so we were forced to sit in our room on the bed. But even there you hear the generator all the time. You never hear any silence. So don't count on the peaceful tranquility that the photos radiate, at least not if you sleep in the same corner as us. A staff member said that it is the generator of the hotel next to us. They were working on something to muffle the sound. Unfortunately we didn't notice anything about that. We believe that Coconut Grove could have informed us in advance about the noise pollution. Because this gave us a headache and it ruined the location.

Coconut Grove is an amazing place to stay at. The location is perfect, the rooms are very comfortable and the food is very very good. Juara beach is clearly one of the best place to stay in Tioman, and Coconut Grove is the most authentic place you can spend your holidays. The team is also incredibly useful, and can organise activities for you. For example, they organised our taxi back and packed us a free lunch for our travels back to mainland Malaysia. We would recommend staying there 100%, best exprience possible!

I enjoyed my 3 nights stay here. The only complaint i have is i and my son waited at Tekek jetty for our transport, which Jip in his email’s response that transport would be arranged but did not turn up. For this i did not want to give them 5 stars for this review. They should serious review such oversight and not repeat it again. Other then this , i am happy to stay here and will stay here again if I visit tioman again. The hotel is nested at the far end of the concrete pavement (also served as the only runway for vehicles) fill with beautiful greenery surrounding setting. Room is clean and well equipped but without TV (i dont TV is needed, the wifi signal is good and enough to keep you occupied if you want to connect to the digital world). We took all out meals here and I considered foods is above average and the price is reasonable. Staff is helpful and friendly. One thing the hotel can improve is to set up more beach facilities such as more beach bench. The current sets are too few and lack maintenance. I and my son brought ourselves with foldable field chair and we really enjoy sitting close to the sea enjoying the sun rise and in the evening looking at sea and the azure skies.

Wonderful place with amazing and kind staff here. The food here is also very amazing but do expect that there might be some flies. The only thing I am not happy about is after emailing the hotel to send me and my dad a taxi to the hotel but after reaching Tekek jetty the taxi did not turn up and me and my dad have to find ourselves a taxi to the hotel. Overall I’m still very happy staying here and wound definitely come back to stay again if I visit Tioman island.

I had a pleasant experience staying at 1511 Coconut Grove last year, and during my visit this time to Tioman, I chose to stay here again. However, there are a few areas where I believe the management of Coconut Grove can make improvements: 1. Breakfast Variety: Several reviewers have mentioned that the breakfast lacks variety and options. I genuinely hope that on my next visit, there will be an improvement in this aspect. If providing a more diverse breakfast menu incurs additional costs, one solution could be to incorporate these costs into the room rates. This way, the increase would likely be absorbed by the guests, and i believe it wouldn't lead to a significant price hike. 2. Ideal Sea View Rooms: It appears that the location of some sea view rooms is not optimal due to shrubs and trees obstructing the view. It would be highly appreciated if the management could clear the shrubs in front of these rooms and replant them strategically to avoid blocking the view. Additionally, removing any trees that obstruct the sea view would be a greatly welcomed move. 3. Restaurant Fly Problem: It seems that the issue of flies in the restaurant is prevalent in Tioman. I hope the management can address this problem by implementing suitable measures to control the fly population. This could include proper waste management practices, and installing fly traps or screens to minimize their presence. 4. Toilet Hooks or Hanging Bars: It would be convenient to have hooks or hanging bars installed in the toilets. This would provide a practical solution for placing our dry clothing during showering. By adding these simple amenities, guests would have a more comfortable experience during their stay. Overall, I had a positive impression of 1511 Coconut Grove, and I believe these improvements would enhance the overall guest experience. Lastly i want to emphasize the foods from the restaurant are good and tasty and i had all my meals here.

The location of 1511 Coconut Grove -- at the far end of Juara Beach, Tioman Island -- is my favorite location of any place I've stayed in SE Asia (and I've lived and travelled here extensively over the past five years). The beach is huge, clean, and beautiful. There are waves at times, clear water for snorkeling, and lots of beach activities (especially with the Barat next door). It was the perfect family beach. It has boogie boards and waves for the teens, a great tidal pool/river for our young one, and some of the most beautiful scenery of any beach for us adults to relax. The accommodation itself was very good as long as expectations are clear. There will be bugs and low water pressure in your rustic chalets. But they are clean and comfy, and they open right up to the beach. The restaurant served good food and cold beers, and at night we watched the flying lemurs glide from tree to tree as the sun went down on the beach scene. It was as close to paradise as I could imagine.
