The Seven Stars

The food was awful. Reheated fish and stale chips. Maybe the worst pub meal ever. I'm told the Sunday lunch is good - maybe the chef has Friday's off! Didn't want to spoil out evening so didn't complain at the time. This is the first review I've ever written, that's how bad it was.

Room was old and tired. Breakfast never appeared (see photo). Bed was comfy and I'm glad it was, as I was charged twice for my 1 night stay. Been trying to get a refund for over a week now and they just won't call me back. If the proprietor is reading this, you know who I am, please return my many, many calls and give me my money back! Given this experience, the only recommendation I can make is that you avoid ever staying at The Seven Stars (oh the irony of that name on a 1 star review).

Location is perfect and on the website it clearly states a tranquil quiet place to stay. However this has definitely not been the case the last 2 times. It seems that most Saturdays they have live bands and loud music so if wanting a quiet nights sleep it will be gone 1am before this happens. My husband did go and speak with landlord but he was quite rude. Shame because the B&B is nice inside.

1st time - checked web to see if food available Sat lunchtime. Kitchen closed until 3 - no show Chef. 2nd time - kitchen open but waited over an hour for our (simple) lunch orders - all arrived at different times (Lorna Google review refers) 3rd and final time - This Saturday. Checked web and rang day before to confirm kitchen would be open for lunch, following long walk. Arrived to find kitchen closed until at least 2pm! Shambles - how long can this place last? Such a shame as website is enticing but so misleading. I can see they are recruiting for kitchen staff but showing a picture of a member of staff with a bandaged finger kind of sums it up!!

Ordered from the menu, ten minutes later told what was ordered wasn’t available! Offered an alternative, chicken korma. Totally tasteless and Luke warm with four small pieces of chicken. Not once did a member of staff check how the meal was. Will not return

We booked a table on line, where it stated roast dinner was available. Turned up to find roast dinners not being served, despite it say they are on website. Apparently due to weather. Three other parties came in asking for roasts to, so clearly a demand. Two staff members on, didn't seem to sure what was going on, and clearly short of staff. We took the menu, choose, then went to the bar to order. Told a 30 mins wait for food!!! This would have been almost an hour after we were seated. The wait for food increased to 45 min... Drank up and left. Shame, we live in the village and really want to support the local pub, but better menu and service in pubs slightly further out.
